What format for the files, and where do we send them?  I can produce a file of daily Inverness arrivals/departures.  Thanks.

FLIGHT_ID,ORIG,DEST,DATE,TIME
BCS8491,,EGNX,"1/10/2010",2320

Header line is optional, time is assumed to be ATA/ATD at your local airport, in local time.

Either post the CSV file here as an attachment, or email direct to me, I'll PM you with the address.

FlightDisplay comes with a CSV file containing over 8000 airfields, with ICAO and IATA codes and also latitudes/longitudes.

You don't need to install the program, simply extract the CSV from the ZIP.

This link is to BHX departure and arrivals board.

Anybody within proximity of BHX fancy putting in some time on the non-route flights coming and goings and tying them up? Takes only a little bit of practice and it's very satisfying as well as adding to our database.

Thanks for your lists Mark, these have filled a lot of gaps in my route database.

Cheers

I still think there should be an update team as for the aircraft. You eat an elephant one bite at a time.

Dave - is the download functionality in process?

Just one comment on the program - if you update one flight (by clicking Save) and then enter another flight number - same dep and dest but different time and then save again you overwrite the first entry - you have to click clear and then start again. Could that be changed?

I decoded 41 new alpha-numerics in & out of EMA over the weekend which, while labourious, shows that the callsign enigma can be cracked piece by piece.

The exercise also threw up some wrongly decoded flights - ie flights erroneously showing EMA as part of the route.  Not sure how we can get these removed?

There is - it's just that for routes, the team is independent of AirNav.

Not yet, I've been a bit preoccupied over the weekend (see below), plus we're only just starting to match the first takeoffs and landings, so there's not much to download yet.  If you want to download what's been done so far, it's easy enough for the time being to copy-and-paste from the route listing report into Excel.

Fair point - but there's a better way of addressing that.  I know from writing commercial web applications that users often like to see the record once it's been saved, so removing the data from the screen as soon as it's saved isn't such a good idea.  However to prevent records being overwritten, the database will now disallow changes to the Flight ID of an existing record.

Over the weekend I've captured several thousand takeoffs and landings from the network, a significant proportion (around 1400) showing blank routes, and these are in the process of being added to the database.

The distinction of being the first route to have both origin and destination derived from a captured takeoff and landing goes to Saturday morning's JZR171 (J9171), a Jazeera AW flight from Dubai to Kuwait, now safely stored in the database.

Great - that will eliminate the overwrite of the record.
Confirm that to enter more than one route you will have to add the data, click save, click clear and then add again.
