Installed new navdata.db3 and aircraft increased to over 120000 but routes decreased from nearly 400000 to just over 2000.
Routes reduction not happened when I've updated previously.
Reinstalled my old one for time being. Any explanation would be appreciated.

Well, as long as you're online, Radarbox will get the route data from the Airnav server, rather than using the old data that was in the previous database.  That way you're sure of getting the latest route data from the server.

Hello,

I must also thank everyone for the hard work in completing the new Navdata database.

One simple question?.

Which directory or folder should the Navdata.db3 be copied too.

It depend on where you have radarbox installed.  If you have installed to the default c:\programfiles location it goes in c:\programfiles\Radarbox.  That is where the installer will put it by default.  If however you have it in C:\Airnav, it should direct it to c:\Airnav\radarbox or where ever you have radarbox installed.

Thanks for the reply Tarbat.

Installed latest update again which showed 1478 routes. Ran RB from 0600 today and at 2100 the database had increased to 2872.
Seems to me that as it's only updating the flights appearing in MyFlights and auto populating them constantly with presumably up to date data, it's not before time that a fresh start was needed.
Just a couple more questions. How did the database build up to nearly 400000 and why was a new start not considered on previous updates. Like Horsham Spotter in another thread, I'm glad to be rid of 'em.
Perhaps the option of keeping  your old one for those who wish to when updates are issued would be a good idea though.

Doug,

Close down Radarbox

Go the the top of the thread, press the link and download the update.  When downloaded run the update and direct it to the location you have Airnav/radarbox installed.

Once finished start up radarbox and the update should be installed.

I can download and install direct from the internet from my main Windows XP computer.  With my Vista laptop it is another matter.  Window security stops me downloading any excutable file and I have to download onto my main computer and transfer it over using a USB stick.

Can someone remind me where to change the security settings on Vista to allow me to download and instal directly please.

Hello,

As you can see this is my first post to this forum, although I have had my Radarbox for ~2years and now wonder what I did before it :)

A question about this latest update. I've downloaded it and it shows up in the correct data folder at ~53MB. However, when I check my database explorer it says I have ~83,000 aircraft records. I was looking for ~120,000. Is there something I have forgot to do? Just to add that computers are not my strong suit.

Thanks

J.D

Hi JD

Where is radarbox installed in your computer?  Do you have more than 1 radarbox folder?

The default location is c:\programfiles\airnav\radarbox and if it is there, the installer will put it into the right folder by default as well.

If you have installed radarbox to a different folder, you will need to direct the installer to the location of your Airnav\radarbox folder.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the reply, yes I only have 1 RadarBox installed and as you say its installed in the default location C:\progamfiles\airnav\radarbox. The new update is installed in the Data folder in radarbox and as I said it appears to be larger than the old Navdata.db3 at ~53MB, but when I look in the Database explorer there are only ~83,000 aircraft loaded - pretty much the same as the old Navdata db.3. I tried moving what I take is the backup file - db3.bak - elsewhere in case it was reading data from there but still the same - no sign of the 120,000 aircraft that were updated ?

Do search of navdata on your machine, and tell us what locations and files it comes up with?

Hi AirNav, I carried out a search and only 1 file came up - Navdata db.3 - located in  c:\progamfiles\airnav\radarbox\data. As I said I moved the db3.bak to my expansion drive.
I take it when it says loaded 83,621 rows - in the Aircraft bit of the Database Explorer that equates to 83,621 aircraft - just checking :)
