Hi AirNav, I carried out a search and only 1 file came up - Navdata db.3 - located in  c:\progamfiles\airnav\radarbox\data.

What operating system are you running?  If it's Vista or Win7, then installing in the Program Files folder will mean the database ends up in the Windows Virtual Store.  See the FAQ at http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=1570.0

Hi Alan, I tried downloading and installing again - no difference

Tarbet thanks for your reply - I do indeed have a Navdata.db3 installed in this windows Virtual Store at ~20MB.

I'm now confused!

I appear to have Airnav 2009 installed in

c:\progamfiles\airnav\radarbox and also in this

Virtual Store\programfiles\airnav

Whats the solution? do I delete one of them or at least move one to my extension drive temporarily or just copy the new update to this Virtual Store?

Don't you just love computers :)

J.D, you have a choice.

The BEST solution is to uninstall, and re-install the latest version (from http://www.airnavsystems.com/RadarBox/support.html) somewhere other than in the Program Files folder.  For example, I use C:\MyProgs\ for all program installations, to avoid Windows using the Virtual Store.  You may want to save a copy of your MyLog.db3 database.

The quick solution is to move the updated database to the Virtual Store.

I agree with Tarbat, save your mylog file, delete all occurances of Airnav and download and install the latest version as directed by Tarbat into a new directory as he suggests.

Once installed download and install the updater into the new directory. and replace your saved Mylog into \data

Hi Guys, thanks for all your help - I'm on a very steep learning curve as far as computers are concerned.

Tarbet, I've went for the quick solution and that appears to have done the trick - my Database Explorer is showing 120,000+ aircraft.

I'll ponder on the BEST solution - may need further assistance for that step :)

Thanks Again

J.D

Glad you got it working JD

I would still go with the delete and re-install as suggested by Tarbat as you will have the same problem with the next update and you will have potentially other problems caused by the virtual store over time

Hi Alan, Tarbet

I finally bit the bullet and deleted the program from c:\programfiles & Virtual Store\programfiles and then re-installed the program into c:\MyProgs and then downloaded the latest update and then copied my old Mylog.db3 back into new location. Never done as much "computering" before but wasn't quite as painful as I thought it would be - touch wood. Back up and running again and can get back to looking at RB and watching the sky!

Thanks again for all your help

Hi Alan, I wee bit off the topic of this thread but I've encountered another hurdle in my journey through the world of computers. I 've downloaded the new logos from Rods Utilities site. But I now have two folders - one with the "old" logos and one with the "new" logos - is there anyway to merge these two folders together. I tried copying one into the other but that just puts one folder into the other folder. Any suggestions ?

Thanks

J.D

You can do the following:

Open Rods Folder:

Press CTRL+A and then CTRL+C after that open the folder with the old Logos and press CTRL+V. After confirming the "Are you sure and confirmation question (regarding the overwrite of existing Logos/Files)" of Windows this will copy all Logos from Rods folder into the folder with the old Logos.

But remember this will overwrite all existing old Logos in the folder that are also available in Rods folder. On the other hand that shouldn't be a problem because Rods folder shall contain all Logos at their newest version.

By the way: It may be necessary to restart RB Software to see all new Logos. If you are also want to use the photo-realistic silhouettes it is definitely necessary to restart RB Software to see the Photo Silhouettes.

Hi neroon 79, thanks for that - it worked a treat. I glad you guys don't charge for all this advice - It would cost me a few pounds :)

I'll store that useful wee trick away for future use.

The link provided in the first post of this thread is now outdated. Is there a new location for the updated database, please?
