BadWolf, this is a long known, anoying problem. You have two choices:
1st You have to manually add the ICAO designator, if you want the silhouettes to be shown.
2nd you have to wait for the next Database Update release.

The following page might be helpful for the adding of the designators: http://www.icao.int/anb/ais/8643/index.cfm

Badwolf,

As Ingo stated when the aircraft is not in the database held on your computer there is a bug which stops the AT being downloaded on occasions.  This means that you have to manually enter it via database explorer.

The bug is well known and will hopefully be weeded out in the next version.  The new database update should be out soon.

Understood All,
I was providing feedback as I experimented with a completely empty database to see what would be populated from the network so that the aircraft listed could be checked they were included in the son to be released db. I spent a few hours doing just that with an ICAO identifier list.
I am well aware this is a lingering issue as I have owned the equipment for a year now and have yet to see signficant database performance issues. Being that this test database hit 1500 entries with nearly 1/3 missing the type, my posted list was offered as feedback from the field.

Hi

I tried to download this file but I just get an error message saying that the file may have been moved or is temporarily unavailable.

Has the link changed?

The file has been removed, because a new one should be released in a couple of days.

The link provided in the first post of this thread is now outdated. Is there a new location for the updated database, please?

Badwof,

A new Navdata is on test and should be published in a few days

Getting an error trying to click the link above.  Is the server hosting the file up at the moment?

Maybe it would have been better to leave the current file available for download until the new one was ready.

OK hopefully the new one will stay up long enough for me to remember when I get back from Toulouse on Thursday.

Thanks
