Can anyone offer any clues as to why B742's do not alert despite being correctly added in the A/c type box.

Very frustrating and just noticed B743's also do not alert - PZ-TCM for example often overflies but rarely alerts as a B743?
Located 2 miles South of LHR.

Tramline, I just added B742 to my alerts, and straight away got 2 alerts.

What exactly are you entering on the Alerts page?  Can you post a screenshot maybe.

Is it perhaps relevant that N703CK has ADS-B and PZ-TCM doesn't ?

a pity i cannot click on the alert popup and go to the plane on the screen directly to see where it is.

Yes, I thought that would be a great feature too.

Is it on the wish list?

How does an aircraft type alert work exactly? Is the AT broadcast in the Mode S frames or does it rely on a lookup in the database? If it is that multi-stage process it might not work if the intermediate results don't get found properly.

7700 codes are relatively rare, so they are not the best test of the alert system.

They are indeed - I've had only two 7700s in the last 7 days (out of a total of around 29,000 flights/squawks recorded).

Top 10 squawks recorded over the last week:

CODE #
7000 558
0430  40
7710  40
7701  39
7706  39
0043  38
2252  38
7703  38
2226  37
2273  37

No contest, really, if you're looking for a the best squawk to use for testing purposes.

Or even use 1* 2* 3* 4* 5* 6* 7*  (press enter between each code).

Will guarantee you get loads of squawk alerts!!
