Perhaps there's a story to this one?

A bear is the name given to the back seater in a Wild Weasel (anti-SAM site) aircraft.

I wonder if the bear entered the flight ID himself...

I am not certain, but usually tasks of that nature are the responsibility of the back seater. I don't know if the transponder can be programmed from the front cockpit.

And I thought a "bear" in the air was Police in a helio. (or a Russian Tupolev) !

Been up and running for about 3 weeks now - lost a load of interesting stuff when I upgraded from v2.01 to V3.06 and then v3.07...!

Thanks to this forum, I now know how to backup MyLog etc for future upgrades!

Just find this thread, so submit the following recorded over the Midlands over the last fortnight. A bit dated now and nothing special:

* 43C0AB  TARTN13                  ZA148   VC10  UK - Air Force       2009/10/12 19:19:32
* 43C3F0  PSYCHO1                                                     2009/10/13 20:29:24
* 43C09B  ASTOR1                   ZJ690   GLEX  UK - Air Force       2009/10/13 19:51:16
* 43C17B  TIRPITZ1                 null    null  null                 2009/10/13 19:53:28

* 43C2B4  VANTAGE1                                                    2009/10/19 19:05:30
* 43C2B4  WIDGET 1                                                    2009/10/19 19:46:45

  43C2B4  WIDGET01                                                    2009/10/20 20:54:13

I'm new to all this - am guessing TARTN codes are dedicated to RAF flights.

TARTN is 101 squadron VC10 tankers. Most transport are ASCOT or RRR

hope this helps,
