Haiti disaster Aircraft?
« on: January 15, 2010, 09:46:23 PM »
I was wondering if the anyone has noticed an increase in unusual flights to Haiti...from the news reports I assume there are at present 100's of aircraft trying to get access to the main Airport which I hear only has 5 spaces available so I guess they are heading for Honduras. I thought I saw an French Air Force C-130 for a second or two in that area ...but am under the weather at the moment so may have been hallucinating
Not wishing to make light of such a terrible event we computer people /gamers/Radio buffs/and clans in this area have got together to put together food stuff/tents and blankets ..just a drop in the ocean ..

The only thing I've seen was last night (I think) - a French AF A310 on its way from the Dominican Republic, which is the nearest regular RadarBox. I saw the aircraft at Port du Prince airport on the news soon afterwards.

I've logged a bunch of aircraft heading that way.
Two Canadian First Air C-130s C-GHPW and C-GUSI (one was at KIAD last night picking up another tactical rescue team),
Lynden Air Cargo C-130s N404LC and N405LC
Tepper Aviation C-130 N2679C (departed KMRB)
3B7B86 F-ZBMC Dash8 of the French Securite Civile Fireguard
Canadian Air Force C-17s 177702 and 177703,   C-130 130343
and of course a whole bunch of US military transports.

One of the major staging areas will be KMRB which isn't too far away from me.

Here's a good way to track commercial C-130 traffic.  N2679C isn't trackable though.

A BA 747 left LHR this morning at 08.30 for the area and Virgin are sending an aircraft, via Miami, at 12.30 today.

Hi,
We had an Astraeus G-STRW Boeing 757 over the west coast of Scotland on Wednesday night (13th January) around 19.47z. Flight number was AEU775P and on checking this was from Gatwick to Port au Prince so we assume this may have been a rescue mission plane.
Full flight history can be found at the following-

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/AEU775

According to the above it went past Halifax and then landed in the Dominican Republic
