Planes not showing on map
« on: April 01, 2014, 02:58:44 PM »
Hi all,

I have just updated to the latest software version and now none of the planes in my list are showing on the map. If anyone could help with a fix I would be grateful.

I haven't a clue what to suggest.  I use the same operating system and have not experienced what you have got on the grid but not showing on the map.

Have you tried ticking and un-ticking the process Hardware Flights box and closing down and restarting.
which version did you upgrade from?  If it wasn't 4.03 you are better uninstalling and doing a full install of V5.00.65 then upgrading to 5.00.71

Only other thing I can suggest is contacting support at [email protected] for their assistance

Alan,

Ive tried what you said but still no joy, I had a response back from airnav support but they just asked if I had the globe symbol next to the aircraft in the list, which some do and some don't so this wasn't much help. I upgraded from version 4.03 and have today uninstalled the program and reinstalled the latest version and still no joy.

One thing I have noticed but not sure if it makes any difference is that when the program first starts and you get the small green box saying loading devices, checking framework mine then says RB1 found RB2 not found.

You also said about installing version 5.00.65 and then upgrading to 5.00.71, do you know where I can get a copy of version 5.00.65 as I cant find it on the website anywhere.

Disregard the RB2 message RB1 is the one you want.  The globe shows that the aircraft is ADSB equipped and should show on the map.  If it is on the grid without the globe it will not show on the map as it isn't ADSB equipped.

Once you have 5.00.65 installed, here is the link to 5.00.71 upgrade
http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/ANRB/ANRBUpgradeto50071.exe

You state you installed the latest version after uninstalling 4.03.  That wont work as it is an upgrade and not a full version hence the need to instaLl V5.00.65 first and then the upgrade to V5.00.71

Even more confused now

I've just done a system restore which took me back to version 4.03, on running this I am now getting plots on the map but on the list side the only columns I am getting data in is the Mode s codes and flight id. The map plots mirror the info in the aircraft list.

I then upgraded to 5.00.65 and all data is present in all columns but I have no plots on the map again.

any further help appreciated

Do you have a filter on or in Preferences/Legends and Labels have you checked which boxes are ticked in the grid visible columns

Why not just follow the suggestions given of uninstalling and re-installing 5.00.65 then 71.  Save your mylog and any other files you wish for reuse in the new installation.

Other than that I am out of ideas and cannot help further.

I have done everything suggested and still cant get any of the versions running correctly

4.03 Plots on map but only half the info in the plane list, this worked fine until I tried to upgrade

5.00.65 plane list info complete but no plots on map

5.00.71 likewise

I have today uninstalled all versions and installed the original CD version 2.1 and hey presto everything works correctly, is it worth me upgrading to each release upto and including the current, or should I just leave it alone bearing in mind I had no issue with 4.03 until I tried to upgrade.

one other thing on uninstalling and reinstalling each version my username and password are remembered each time and I haven't had to re-enter them on each new installation so there must be residual files relating to airnav somewhere even though I've uninstalled, any chance this might have caused the problems?

At least Ive got a working program again even if it is old. LOL

The password and username are stored in the registry.

Did you install to program files location or c:\Airnav?  You shouldn't use the program files location to avoid windows virtual store problems.  If you installed initially to the program files location there will probably be some file in there needing manually deleted

When you state half the info on the plane list is that half the ADSB equipped? or half the total

Whether to upgrade is up to you,  I cant for the life of me see why they don't work correctly but then again I cant see the whole picture.

Alan

I installed to the default location c:\programfiles etc etc

when I said half the list I meant only a couple of the columns were showing data, the mode s and flight id, but the ADSB equipped in the list were plotting but just displaying the mode s code instead of the registrations.

Its annoying but I might just leave it for the time being as version 2.01 seems to be working fine and I also have another program that links my aviation database to airnav which is working at present so I don't want to change directories and run the risk of having to reinstall that as well.

One last question if I left version 2.1 where it is and installed the latest version to a totally different directory such as c:\airnav2014 would this work independently (just to prove it works as a stand alone install) or would they clash with each other.

Many thanks for your help

Marc,

I don't know if it would work OK, but it probably would so why not try it and find out.
