New Forum Software
« on: August 13, 2011, 11:04:24 PM »
We are currently upgrading the forum software. After the upgrade (done) we will re-work the forum Theme so everything looks as good as before.

This looks verry nice.

But I hoped that AirNav give more priority and energie to solve problems in the RadarBox software.

I still see F70, Gliders, Helicopters and all like that doing flights to most strange destinations.

A Dutch Police helicopter doing flight KLM861 to Tokio......it's not to believe. And so it is going on all the day all the year. Verry irritating.

Hope AirNav will solve this problem a.s.p. now in stead of "coloring" and "playing" with the forum-outfit.

Thanks in advance, John Racars

Do we have a timescale as to when everything will look as good as before  (ie the "old Forum theme").

At present I am having problems with the small font size and the wishy washy colour scheme.

The "old Forum theme" was very easy on the eye.

What has been achieved in the new presentation?

What has been achieved in the new presentation?

Well, that's a very good question.
To be honest after wandering through the new forum for a couple of day I was not able to detect any advantages of the new style at all. But I was able to detect some disadvantages, especially the items about the new graphic layout you had mentioned. Indeed I think that the "old" layout was much clearer and easier to read. Don't know, why it was necessary to do a graphics change during this "update". I would have much more appreciated the fixing of RB SW Bugs instead of this in my opinion unnecessary "update" to  forums graphic layout and style, which gives people who are visually impaired a heard time of reading its content. And again we are learning, that not every Update is actually an Update/Upgrade. In Germany we are calling this a "Ver-schlimm-besserung".

The forum software was upgraded as the one used before was old and had some security implications which needed to be dealt with. The layouts and things are to be updated as soon as possible.

There has been no affect on our development, this forum software is free to download on the internet and use so there is nothing to worry about there.

Sorry AirNav, but the "old" format was fine and the "new" does not seem to have any improvements, in fact, in my opinion, not as good.

Just me being fussy perhaps, but with the the same set up the panel is bigger and covers info that I want to see, or if I shrink the panel I loose the jump to GO button.
Or I might just be a numpty.

There is an improvement, but still not as easy to read as the "old format".

Most of the green type is easy to read, but the black/grey of the content of the message should be considerably  darker.

And as for the typeface under the heading "Quick Reply", it is very difficult (for me) to read and the tag "Quote" on the right of the header is almost indiscernible.

As I suggested before, the colour scheme may be pretty, pretty, but not very practical.

I read and enjoy most messages on a regular basis, but unless there is more improvement, my readings will become less frequent - my loss, I know.

Pity it seems to be change for change's sake.

And we still don't know what prompted the change.

If it aint broke, don't fix it.

As mentioned earlier, the reason for the update to the software was due to security implications . The new software wasn't compatible with the older layout hence the layout changes also had to be made.
