There's been a Nato AWACS broken at Mildenhall for about the last 6-7 day, Could have been that one. They were working on it last night to get it ready.

Many thanks in advance

Yes, OQC was the first QF fltight into LHR yesterday, saw it depart on 27R past my office window. VH-OQA was the one that operated todays (18th) service.
For info Thai A340's operating into LHR this month as well

I cannot confirm this, but someone surely will.I flew on one of Singapore airlines A380s in November from LHR to Changi, wow what a plane, very quiet, smooth and the pilot made up one and a half hours.Boeing definetely has some competition now.

Regards Terry.

Thursday's events also demonstrate the robust nature of the European as opposed to Boeing products?

A couple of pics I took yesterday of one of two B-1B Lancer bombers of the USAF, 86-0109/DY and 86/0124/DY, taking off from RAF Mildenhall. Both aircraft had been there since landing at 01:15 on Friday morning. The aircraft had been unable to RV with two KC-135 tankers over the Atlantic at around 21:00 due to extreme turbulence and plans were made for another RV at ARA8 off the east coast but a series of fronts moving through the area put paid to that and the tankers returned to Mildenhall at 00:30. The Lancers continued on their way to their original destination (rumoured to be a sandy place) at 12:15 yesterday.

Sadly, you'll never catch these aircraft on your RB.

The B-1B is about the loudest aircraft I've ever seen, the displays at Mildenhall were quite amazing in that respect.
