Alert - BA 747 test flight up
« on: April 18, 2010, 05:13:23 PM »
I am watching a BA 747 test flight out of Heathrow.  CNN is reporting that the CEO of the airline is on board.  The purpose is to see if there is any impact from the ash cloud.  What is a bit more amazing is that I am in Helsinki, Finland (stranded business traveler) watching this on my laptop computer via LogMeIn to my RadarBox which is actually running inSeattle, Washington.

He seems to be step climbing - stopped at 10,000, then 15,000, 20,000 and now seems to be going to up 25,000

He's gone so far out over the Atlantic that he's vanished off the network. Just have to wait until he comes back.

Looking at the latest charts from the Met Office, the predicted western edge of the ash is at Newfoundland. I think that this flight will be going quite a way out before returning.

Yes, seems to be doing a reverse course Dave...shame It would have been nice to see him down the southwest on it's return.
Best regards Dave.

BBC News have a live link to Cardiff and may be showing the landing live.
Shouldn't be too long, they are currently at the Welsh coast at FL150.
