Just got back from the hospital, and checked my log.  One aircraft - G-SASB - Air Ambulance helicopter.  That's all.  It's strangely quiet without any Tornados flying.

EDIT: Just had a call from a friend in Shetland to ask about my health, they report a sulphur like smell in the air.

Best regards Dave.

I arrived back into the UK from my holiday to Hong Kong (via Istanbul) today and landed at LHR this morning at 10:22am on Turkish A340 TC-JDM.  Had I recieved a delay I would be in an overnight hotel in Istanbul.

Since getting home I have logged three light aircraft from Wycombe Air Park and Citation G-JBIS which appears to have left Farnborough low level VFR and remained at 5000ft until reaching the channel.  It is currently climbing into French commercial airspace over the channel.

Couple of hours ago I had the Derbys Cops' Eurocopter G-NMID plus a pair of Army Lynxs ZF538 and ZG887.

So not a total washout.

and there's more:

G-BYTI Piper Commanche / PH-VFC  PA28  /  G-OSOH Cessna Citation /  AAC-942 Lynx (army)

Doesn't the embargo apply to all but military and emergency?

Only applies to aircraft above certain flight levels surely? Plenty of light aircraft and helos around.

Yes, it's controlled airspace that's closed.

I don't think NATS has the authority to stop aircraft flying VFR in uncontrolled airspace, and it would appear that the danger posed by the dust at low level is minimal - at least I hope so !
