Coax Cable; HELP
« on: August 17, 2009, 02:38:51 PM »
Hello from Portugal
I Have Installed an GP1090 antenna on the roof with amplifier ELAD A12-1090 + BT12 and 15 meters of RG213 coaxial cable.
When I turn on the transformer 12v, white light in the Radar Box “stop”, and the "targets" on the screen will disappear.
When disconnecting the transformed everything back to normal
Is the coaxial cable that  not appropriate?

Thanks for help

My immediate thought is that you may have the connections on the bias tee made incorrectly. Instead of sending the 12V to the mast head amp it is going to the RadarBox.

Hello João,

The Elad preamp is by-passed by a relay when the 12v power is removed It is possible you have a faulty preamp.

Peter

Hello

Thanks for your help

All connections are correct .
I did a little experiment, without antenna. With one meter of coaxial cable connected the amplifier ELAD A12-1090 and BT12. When i turn on the 12v the preamp maKe "clic".
It`s normal?

The click is from the by-pass relay mentioned above.

The cable you have is OK, if a bit lossy, but with a preamp that will matter much less.

I suspect that you have the bias tee reversed, there should be no DC applied to the Radarbox antenna input.

Disconnect the bias tee and check that the 12V supply appears at the connector feeding the coax to the preamp, not at the connector which is at the Radarbox end.

If the relay is being activated when 12v applied the connection is correct.

Hello
All the conections are ok
This afternoon a technician will test the two products with a multimeter.
I await the results....

Thanks
