Nothing being tracked
« on: May 22, 2009, 01:38:58 PM »
On several occassions today my RB has suddenly lost track of every aircraft and also the screen has frozen forcing a close and reboot. Anyone have any idea as to why this might happen

A poor or intermittent Internet connection whilst having the Network download enabled?

What version of RB software are you using?

Usually if all your aircraft timeout and then appear again its either a couple of reasons.

1.) Computer struggling to cope with load and hence doesn't process messages and they all timeout and the connection between your pc and RB drops and then restarts again.

2.) Your USB cable is playing up and its loosing connection or if you have an extender it not too far from the machine.

However the above should not cause your computer to freeze. This sounds like a computer fault (sometimes bad memory causes this)

Try running RB on another machine if you have one, or if you have the network on try turning it off and then running (that will reduce load).

If it is Vista & you are running any themes or programs that enhance the theme , such as windowblinds, try disabling them.

Sounds to me like a PSU  problem , or most likely a  Graphics card /drivers problem.Just possibly a RAM/Virtualmemory problem altho I would expect an error message for this.

Overheating of  the Graphics card...or the Chipset(N Bridge) can cause freezes...check that the heatsinks are clean and that the fans where fitted are running- same time check and clean the  CPU Heatsink and fan.

Update the Graphics card drivers(get  latest set from  makers website - uninstall old before installing new).

If the freezing persists - check the PSU voltages....you can do this with Motherboard Monitor (FREE Google for it- it will also show CPU and System temps)....all voltages (12V,5V and 3.3 should be within +/- 5% of the nominal values.

Often an unstable, overloaded or failing PSU can cause freezing.
