Database Problem
« on: December 03, 2008, 02:02:16 AM »
I'm having trouble with changes I make in the database. Ive made numerous corrections, added aircraft, deleted photos but they get overwritten eventually. How can I prevent this? Thanks

Not sure what you mean regarding an aircraft being overwritten if you have added it.

Can you provide us with more information?

Airnav,

Ive made corrections to numerous aircraft that were displaying the wrong info. USCG HC-130's 1709 and 1718 were listed as France Army and Polish Army for example. I corrected the info and a few days later they changed back. Photos that I have deleted end up back in the database also. I guess the bottom line is can I still be connected to the internet and NOT have the GAS be running/making changes? Thanks

The aircraft should NOT update from Airnav servers/GAS if you've entered details for them.  A couple of questions:

1. How are you making the updates?  In Database Explorer, or another program?

2. Are you saving the changes, by clicking on another record/row to commit the updates?

Hi tarbat,

Yes, I'm using the Database Explorer.

The changes are definitely saved. Sometimes they remain for a few days, even if I close RB. The fact that photos that I have deleted show up in again in the database is why I think it's the GAS/Servers. If it happens again I'll probably just delete the record and then add it on my own. Maybe that will solve the problem.

Thanks

Hi JRS98

On the photos question, if you don't want photos downloaded, go to File...Preferences, and on the RADARBOX tab, deselect "Download Aircraft Photos".

You can also choose not to display the photos area at all, and have more space for the list, by unchecking Tools...Show Photos/Details.
