Help (2)
« on: July 15, 2008, 06:43:48 PM »
Hi All,

Yesterday I recieved my RB back after repair. Unfortunately, until so far it was not possible for me to get the RB activ.

I hope I can make clear to you what I did step by step:

1. I connect the RB to my PC;
2. I switch the PC on;
3. After starting Windows the message "New AirNav hardware detected" appears;
4. After that I follow the ANRB Manual from on step 3 on page 9 (because the steps 1 and
    2 are not need I think, because the software is already installed);
5. After step 6 (page 12) the message "not possible to copy the ftdibus.exe" and that
    is it.

Again a big mysterie for me. After disconnecting my RB for sending it for repair I did not change anything on my PC in the time until yesterday the RB comes back....

Also, no activ RB until yet. I hope, all is clear to you and hope for some answers or help.

Thank you verry much in advance!
Best Regards from the Netherlands, John Racars

This is occuring as the drivers have already been installed. You can ignore the ftdibus.exe ignore and continue and then ignore any other errors which come up but you need to point to ftdi.sys in the RadarBox folder.

Thank you for your fast reaction!

What do you mean with "but you need to point to ftdi.sys in the RadarBox folder"?

After cancelling the Hardware Wizard and starting the AN-software the green led on the RB is burning constantly end the blue one is flashing constantly.

On the screen the massage "Hardware: unconnected" is displayed with a red colored box in front of it.

So I think it is not clear to me yet how to handle this problem.

I hope I do not asking to much, but please it will be much easyer for me if you explane me step by step what to do to get the RB ready for use.

Thank you again in advance and sorry for any inconvenince.

John,

When you get to step 6, you need to press the browse button and then navigate to the ftdibus file.  I don't think that there is an ftdibus.exe file, it is either ftdibus.sys or ftdibus.inf - look carefully again at the message.

The ftdibus.inf file is in:

C:\Program Files\AirNav Systems\RadarBox 2008\Drivers\

and the ftdibus.sys file is in

C:\Program Files\AirNav Systems\RadarBox 2008\Drivers\i386

Once you have selected the file, click OK and the process should continue.  You might be asked to browse to both the .inf and the .sys file - just read the messages carefully.

This problem is probably occurring because you have plugged RadarBox into a different USB port.  If you put it in the same one as when you had it before, you won't need to reinstall the drivers.

Do not cancel the whole Hardwar Wizard.

When it asks for a driver point towards the drivers as you are doing. When it comes up with any messages saying this file is missing then click "ignore this file" and continue (Do not stop the whole driver install)

It will ask for a ftdibus.sys, this is can be found in the RadarBox Driver folder and then the folder i386. It will then say some other files are missing but you can ignore them and continue.

It will then install and RadarBox should work.

Hello Allocator, Hello AirNav Support,

Problem solved!!! Thank you for all the (quick) help.

Highly appreciated.

And... it looks my RadarBox is working (with the default antenna) connected.

My outside antenna I don not dare to use yet after the crash. I hope I will get some hints from AirNav or any other outside-antenna users.

Thank you for all the help until sofar again!

Hey John, it's good to have you back!

I'm glad that you are up and running again.  You will notice an increase in the Network traffic since you were on last :-)

All the best
