A new thread to replace the old thread of the same name that had grown huge!

Hello
I hope you dont remove the old one since it has been useful when searching for aircraft we have had to see what it has been doing before.

I had heard on the grapevine that the big threads were slowing down the forum. As I don't know how the forum works, I don't know if this is the case. The decision will be for AirNav to make.

Crossing the Atlantic this morning and over London at 5:45am today was ex JAL Boeing 747-446 N744AR, Hex AA0176. According to this video it has been prepared by the 94th AeroClaims Aviation Consultant Group at Victorville and is destined to be operated by Iraqi Airways.

It went eastbound over Lincs/Norfolk yesterday, also as RYN532 !

It is N637TW of Ryan Intl with its old Brazilian miscode. It crosses UK every few days on US Military charters.

300359 I-AIGH B762 of Air Italy (Flt No AEY12) just departed BFS heading west.
Probably a military charter as it's not transmitting position
I've logged it on 96 occasions since June 2008 and it hasn't once transmitted position.
I guess it doesn't have ADS-B :-)
-
Hello
We have Just had the A225 in range of our aerial at around 2pm BST (no ADS-B but must have been in UK airspace) it was displaying ABB399F as a flight ID but it would actually be ADB399F. I just thought I would point it out in case anyone wanted to know it was about.

N707JT logged over Norway 29. sept. Mr Travolta returning home from at trip to India.
-
Hello
Just thought I'd share our strange experience with the forum. We have just had a Ryan International N764RD going over here. When we first picked it up it had flight id CMB502 but at around 50 miles from our home it changed it flight id to RYN7768.
Is in-flight flight id/callsign changes more common than we realise and if so would this not be rather confusing for ATC etc.
Andrew
-
I didn't notice that, but my guess is that it was heading towards Europe rather than heading westbound.
I think it's been mentioned on the forum before that US military charters are not universally welcomed as such, and chartered aircraft sometimes change from their "official" military ID's (Reach, or these days, Camber) to their less-controversial "civvie" identities to pacify countries they are overflying or visiting.
Rod
-
Hello Rod
It was actually on a heading of 302 so heading from Europe.
We looked on flightaware and his routing is from Leipzig to Chicago Rockford.

So much for that theory, then, unless Iceland's turned against the USA!

Hello
One for us around here to look for. G-NNCY is landing at Edinburgh with ADS-B which is a CHC Scotia super puma on delivery presumably to Aberdeen. So far the only helicopters at aberdeen with the ads-b have been Bristows so It will be interesting to see another company with one at Aberdeen.

On screen now any info please?
Is there any chance of a logo please Rod?
-
Info - no
Logo - no too - not without a Flight ID - it wouldn't show one even if I did one.
Let me know if it does show an ID.
EDIT - I've done one anyway - see the logos thread.

Fascinating stuff !
Currently performing manoeuvres at 20,000ft off the Spanish coast in the Murcia area is Airbus A400M c/n 002 with registration EC-402. He is using a rather unusual flight ID of MSN02F11.
Edit: Now performing a rapid descent !

Kind of a given isn't it. However at least on this one Airnav are still keeping up with the jones's, as even the SBS provider (Ian K) has not done one yet in their format. No doubt with this airframe delivery, I am sure he will be hot on the case. They already have the AT72-AT76, G250 GLF6 etc silhouettes. Hopefully Airnav will follow suit at some point. They are desperately needed by all users.
-
Yep, had a look there and found nowt. I bet a chap called Rod has something in hand :-)
-
Oi - I heard that!
No - I'm not doing proper silhouettes - I do quite enough stuff already, but I persevere with my photo-type silhouettes - I prefer them - and I've taken your suggestions on board - see the New Silhouettes thread: http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=1290

Anyone know what's going on here? I've found that the owner is a balloon company owner and director of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. There's a strong west wind blowing across the Atlantic at the moment - is there a chance that this is a record-breaking attempt?

Picked up "FNB" FIRST104 this afternoon scuttling south just west of Manchester - unfortunately I'd become engrossed in a newspaper article, and by the time I glanced at the laptop,he was just out of sight

I'll put it down to a rather turgid day of nearly wall to wall Easyjet and Ryanair flights?

Just caught D-AIME Lufty 380 routing New York Frankfurt
First time I've picked up these blighters across the pond - is this now a regular service, or a one off using this aircraft type
Apologies if this is really mundane, but just stareted paying more attention to the box with the better weather, and as stated earlier, not seen a LH 380 before
Cheers
Rich
-
Rich,
If this was LH404/405 from Frankfurt to JFK, according to 'Airline Routes' due to service adjustments involving Tokyo the route will be operated 12 times a week by A380 but only until the 21st April. From the 22nd April it reverts back to a B747.
So until then keep your eyes peeled.
Ian
-
Cheers Ian - yep it was 405
Thought it a bit unusual

Just noticed another 380 D-AIMB heading over towards the east coast of the UK on the network for anyone interested - should be around the Lincolnshire coast soon (17:56 as I type)

beautiful sight in the afternoon sun
Indeed. I can see SIA318 from WSSS fly to EGLL here. At this time of the year the sun is close to the sunset, but the airframes are still in the bright sun, slightly lighted from below very impressive and beautiful sights. Same counts for the early morning, when QFA32, SIA322 and recently QFA9 are heading for EGLL. Also a beautiful, but very rare sight: In the flights back to WSSS at early afternoon on winter days with extreme Blue and clear sky, especially if there is closed snow mantle, if the airframes get lighted up from below by the sun's reflection.
And that's what I mean: SIA318 flying into sunset at about 7:00pm Central European summertime.
(Picture taken @ FL400 shortly before descending to EGLL, speed approx. 470kt)

Hi is this one correct or a miscode? C013DB C-FHNM Nolinor Aviation/Sky Gabon Convair 580. John
-
Looks like the real deal to me - Nolinor do operate a CV580 - got it in My log, too.
Rod
-
Thanks Rod nice first for me.
-
With due thanks to the Civilian Aviation Site. Reported to have departed Paris Le Bourget & it's heading North over the UK. It routed DET - BPK - TNT - POL presumably enroute Iceland. It is climbing as it was on my box so I'm assuming a stop at Prestwick?
-
Hi,
Yes it fuel stopped in Prestwick, departed 23:45. En-route back home after working in Gabon. Believe it or not the d/b is pretty reliable.
Alan
-
Thanks for the confirmationAlan. Just to add I wasn't criticising the DB nor in particular those who have put so much effort in to make it accurate. I was genuinely surprised and delighted to catch such a nice older airframe.
-
No worries John, just pointing out the d/b can normally be relied upon and yes it is very nice to see real aircraft in amongst all the modern stuff.
Alan

My first sighting of a Sukhoi Superjet 100 apparently on commercial service - landing at Sheremetyevo.
Rod
-
Yes, Rоd, even Armavia airlines started revenue flights with Superjet at the end of April, each time this bird visits Moscow airports is still an event for Russian spotters!
Rod and colleagues, on the topic below:
http://www.radioscanner.ru/forum/index.php?action=vthread&topic=30532&intpage=26&mdrw=on
you may find here even more “firsts” concerning Superjet and other birds in the Russian sky, painted by state-of-art Radarbox software. When guys here ask what Airnav gives me that no other competitors cаn, I always say – Airnav presents a picture, they propose a sketch.
This topic is in Russian – but screenshots are in universal language. Russian speaking colleagues may find here useful information concerning fine tuning of Radarbox software along with one-stop source for spotter’s pocket spreadsheets and other stuff.
Bу the way, Airnav, do you have any plans for RB User Guide in Russian in your pipeline? From my point of view it may be a useful tool for increasing RB sales here.

Picked this one up yesterday. Anyone got a serial & type for it? Thanks.
* AE2FA1 2011/05/20 08:17:01
-
Hi
Done a search of usual sites. Some believe its a C17 but not confirmed and no serial.
Where abouts did you detect it and what was the msg count ?
AE2FA5 was detected on the 20th at 8.50am so it may have been a corruption of this.
Brian
-
It's a US Mil code. another possibility as it has also been picked up in California before it may be USN and part of the CVN-77 Air Group. Either way it remains unidentified.
-
The message count was 6. Start Time 08:17:01 End Time 08:20:51 Start Altitude 34000 End Altitude 6400. A pretty rapid descent! I am down near Portsmouth so maybe something to do with Carrier. I picked up AE2FA5 at 08:01 with a message count of 257 between 08:01 and 08:25 with a constant altitude of 34000 also.
-
I would suggest its a US Mil tactical code and as such will remain unidentified.
Alan
-
Hi
Sounds like it may be something to do with the Saxon Warrior exercise. Will be interesting to see if he pops up again or should i say drops in again.

Hello
There must be a meeting of gyros today somewhere in the north of Scotland today (probably Wick).
Andrew
-
I think they were in Inverness yesterday and were then heading for Oban
Alan
-
Hello Alan
Thanks for the info. They must have been further north than Inverness when we got them as Inverness is quite a dead signal area for us to get them at that altitude. To get aircraft below 25,000ft over Inverness is quite a rarity for us.
Andrew
-
Just checked my email Andrew and they did indeed visit Wick

I believe I saw a Tu154 at around FL180 at 12.14 descending into Brize Norton, however, no Tu154 was showing in My Flights. I'm sure it was a 154 - white tail with red motif - poss flag on it. Any clues?

Many thanks for that Alan. I'm bemused as to why nothing would show on my RB 'My Flights' despite Alerts for Tu154's - not surprised that it would not show on map but why not in My Log or My Flights?

I looked for every and any indication that it was showing on the RB but despite passing me at around FL180 and only 15 miles away with loads of other traffic in the area, nothing showed so perhaps your explanation explains it.

A wee bit of caution maybe required, while the details of the aircraft on the screen are correct and correspond with the hex being displayed, I note the flight ID doesnt correspond being UZX which is a Cessna T303 Crusader which should use hex 7C68DB. Is this a miscode or an incorrect flight ID, possibly the former?

I did wonder, but the altitude and cruise speed tie in better with a C-185 than a T303, so I remain optimistic :-)

I guess its a miscode for the parachute plane out of Dunkeswell.

-
Dave/Keith,
Info on searching mode-s suggests that it may be a helicopter which operates out of Benson
Alan
-
Alan
This could make sense because I know that they have used military helicopters for parachuting at Dunkeswell,
hence the 0033 squawk.
-
Paul on mode-s managed to MLAT it on Planeplotter in the Dunkeswell area today using the 0033 squawk and suggest that it may be Be99 N899AE. All we need now is for someone to confirm this.

Dave, how many messages have you received? If you have received more than 50 (better 100) in a row, it's a good chance that it is indeed the glider. Otherwise I would say that it was caused by several received corrupted data packets of another airframe.

Not interesting in itself but not often you see KC10's plotting. BOBBY61 AE021F 85-0027 McDonnell Douglas KC-10A Extender c/n 48232/402 accompanied by non-plotting Bobby62 KC-135R taking 8 Lakenheath F-15's to Nevada for Red Flag exercises.
BOBBY71 also plotting and coming up over Yorkshire this time as well. It is accompanied by KC135R non plotting BOBBY72 and 6 X F15 http://www.rb24.com/BOBBY71

Iv'e picked up 2 KC10's now, I believe there is an exercise underway to fit all USAF "heavies" with ADS-B, that's a lot of aircraft to fit before 2020 !!!
Seems odd that I have seen more USAF plotting than Flybee's !!
