RAF Cosford AirShow 1 June 2008
« on: May 31, 2008, 10:11:55 PM »
I will be running RadarBox and sharing data tomorrow for the duration of the RAF Cosford airshow.  I don't expect to see much on the map, but I should get some aircraft in the list.  Cosford is about 25 miles from my home location.  I'll keep you informed regarding interesting contacts.

Red Arrow on frequency inbound to RAF Shawbury for refuel, but they obviously don't have Mode S as nothing on RB, even in the aircraft list :-(

Well, the Red Arrows just flew past!  Taking a quick look at Shrewsbury before running in to Cosford.

So, definitely no Mode S then!

Well, it's just about over and I didn't see a great deal on RadarBox, then I wasn't expecting to really.  I heard most of the participants on the radio and saw some in the list, especially during the RAF "Role Demo" as shown in the shot of the list below.  I did think that I'd pick up the BBMF in the list, but as not all their aircraft have had Mode S fitted yet, it's always going to be pot luck.  One of the aircraft I did pick up in the list though was Yak 52 G-YAKN.

A very enjoyable day following the show aircraft, without getting stuck in the traffic :-)

The Yak team are displaying now.  I guess that aerobatics upset the Mode S altitude transmissions!
