Departure and destination information.

This information seems to be unusually scarce this morning on the map display or is it just me?

Nothing to do with whether its morning or night. The database for routes has over 100,000 entries.

However there are about 7x more that in the world. We hope to have a better/self updating versions of the route database in the future.

‘Nothing to with it being morning or night’ you are kidding me right?

Sorry just having some fun. I appreciate that the AM & PM thing has no bearing on what’s displayed. I was just making a general observation that a lot of the aircraft flying this morning (Currently 0850hrs Local) do not appear to be broadcasting the departure and destination information compared to what I usually see.

Roadrunner…Have you noticed anything?

"broadcasting the departure and destination"

Just to clarify in case there is any confusion that the aircraft do not broadcast route information. Route information is simply derived from there flight number.

I’m trying to understand this so I hope you don’t mind me asking.

Have I got this right? The aircraft broadcasts its flight number, and this is then cross referenced to the Airnav database which then adds the information to the display shown on the map. All the other information such as position, altitude and flight number is transmitted via the aircraft.

The routing information is contained within the navdata database, the flight number comes from the aircraft. I assume that this will be updated with auto populate.

The rest of the info position etc comes from the aircraft
