Last letter of Airport names missing?
« on: April 24, 2008, 03:07:00 PM »
Hi All,

Can anyone explain why the last letter is missed off all of the airport names on my radarbox screen? and how do I correct it please?

Also, when I zoom in, I get what look like white railway tracks or combs, what are they please, and how do I get rid of them if I want to?#

Best regards
Mark

A screenshot would make it much easier to see what you are talking about :-)

Rocket, what font are you using?

As Airmad said, the "combs" are the final approach tracks for airfields.  If you don't want them on, use Map | Aviation Signs | Airport to turn on/off, or use the Map drop-down menu (to the left of the "Home" button.

If the final approach tracks are too bright for you, try changing their colour using File | Preferences | Map Colours - see the manual for more details.

Hi,

OK, thank you for the advice about the flight paths in and out of the airports :)

I need to get this right, because the screenshot you see is from the demo model I have running here at the shop, and as we are an AirNav Systems dealer, I want to make sure that I give the best visual product impact as we are building up a really strong AirNav customer base.

The closest airport to the shop for example is Luton, but this does not display correctly as you can see by the screenshot, all the other airports are wrong too, Heathrow is missing the last letter, some of the others are missing their last 2 letters.

The font could be the key to my problem?

It is odd though, I have not changed any font settings within the RB software, it is as it was straight from the software disc, no add-ons etc.

I find this interesting though, if a customer asks me the same question - then I need to have the answer!

Hi Mark,

Never heard of this issue before. Its very curious.

One item comes to mind is whether you have Large Fonts in your resolution and display settings?

Mark,

Here is a screenshot of the same area taken from my PC.  Your station labels look to be bold but I can't see a way to change this, as the font settings only affect the aircraft labels:

Mark, AirNav,

I've found the problem!

If you have "Names" on without the "Identifier" then the names are truncated.

Mark, select the Identifier as well Map | Aviation Signs | Station Labels | Identifier

then all will be OK :-)

Below: only "Names" selected:

ok so slightly off topic but around the same subject. Having read Allocators note above I tried the same thing.

I noticed however that the drop down menu "Aviation Signs" - "Station Labels" always has all of the items ticked even if that item isn't on.

Is this meant to be the case or is this just a very minor bug. Or is it just me.
