Just when I said I could not fathom out 1FXXXX codes 1F7AF3 shows up at 10000ft descending. Nothing else was around at the time, however according to planefinder it was allocated to no prefix 97011 an SU95 pre delivery reg which ought to be 157AF3! However no prefix 97011 has been used on various frames.

The other I picked up previously was 1F7AEC (which should be 157AEC??) which could decode to No prefix 97004...another SU95 pre delivery reg used again on various airframes.....Have I stumbled upon 1FXXXX codes being pre delivery factory codes!

The other was 260 counts again nothing around it descending form 21000ft to 2000ft so landed either SVO or VKO.

SU95's on test usually use 1F*** codes and don't have any prefix to the number part as you state.  After delivery they change to a full RA- registration or the other country registration and also change their hex codes to that appropriate to their new registration. The new registration is not the original with the inclusion of RA-* and the pre-delivery serials/registrations are as you state re-used.

We have had 1F**** codes in the database for SU95's previously but as they were no longer applicable these were deleted when the frame was delivered and a new registration/hex taken up.  There are some such codes in the d/b at this time, probably no longer appropriate but as I don't have a c/n available for them I cannot state for any certainty so they would probably be more appropriate as being noted as SU-95 test codes.

Any verified code is added to the d/b

As you state above I have also picked up 1F7AEE which populated as SU95 No prefix 97006.

The only other 1F**** I have picked up (on a couple of occasions) was 1F333D c/s XZZ210R0, which if my theory is working would have been 15333D a new build IL76MD-90A l/n 001-05 photographed as RF-78653 (might now be 1B333D).

As you mentioned I would insert/reinsert 1F7AE* range under the 97001 to 97020 regs as SU95 Sukhoi Manufacturer registrations with various c/ns as they appear often enough.

Also we need to find the codes for RF-78650 thru to RF-78654 IL76MD-90A's which are flying around. One has been reported as 1E333A on World Aircraft Database but I believe with a wrong reg tie up (RF-78652 is stated however I would have thought RF-78650!).....But 1E****.......gibber gibber mutter mutter!!!!
