We just had thunderstorm this afternoon.  When I've got home, my RB range reduces to less than 20nm where  I normally get around 200nm.

Hope it is from wet coax not circuit damage.

In the mean time, apologize for limited range around Bangkok.

Kenny,

Suppose it's a bit late now to tell you but ALWAYS pull out the antenna connection if thunderstorms are forecast to be in the area.

Lightning arresters are available, but I'm not sure just how effective they are in protecting RBs, they seem to work OK for GC Receivers though.
ANRB :  AOR AR8000 : Icom R-7000 : Icom IC-R9000 : JRC NRD-545 : OptoElectronics Digital Scout and OptoLinx Interface; Realistic Pro-2005 : UBC 800XLT - listed in alphabetical order, not cost, preference, performance or entertainment value!

About arresters: They work quite well for secondary lightning discharges or strong electrostatic charges, that are build up shortly before lightning strikes*. During this effects of thunderstorms you can sometimes already smell the ozon, but you don't get the full hit. If you catch a full hit (primary lightning discharge) they are useless as all equipment between lightning entry poitn and ground/erth gets fried. I've some experience with satellite equipment and terestrial TV and lightning causing electronic toast.

* The flash-channel starts building up, but the channel building up from your antenna isn't the one that does ignite through.

Kenny, I hope that it is just a drowned Coax connection.

Regards Ingo

Just an update.

Swap RB with DVB-T dongle and run RTL1090, the Msgs/Sec jumps from around 15 to 150 and see a whole lots aircraft.

Hi,

I will be offline for sometime until it is come back from repair.  During this time I'll using DVB-T dongle and RTL1090.  For sure, I'll miss the RB interface.

Hi Kenny,

Thanks for the update, missing your input, I hope it is a quick turn round.  Are you able to input into the network with the dongle?

Contact support and they gave the link for client download.  Asked to give them the Sharing ID once installed to activate the account.  ID & email sent several days.   Still quiet.
