Really

I picked it up both Monday and today (mode-s) only, I live close to Bruntingthorpe.  I didn't have my ANRB for the 1st post-restoration flight last October though.

The Vulcan has received its display authorisation from the CAA :-)

The Vulcan is appearing at the RAF Waddington Airshow this weekend, and there is an outside chance that it might be doing a flyby at the RAF Shawbury Veterans event on Sunday 6th July.  If it does go to Shawbury, it's expected some time between 2.00pm and 2.15pm, so all those on the route between Waddington and Shawbury should be able to pick it up.

Please do bear in mind that this is not a definite appearance at Shawbury, so don't blame me if it doesn't appear.  It will not be landing.

Its almost worth the hundreds of miles to travel to RAF Waddington to see her fly!

I used to watch these flying in the 60s.  It would be great if the Avro Vulcan returned to one of it's old training grounds up here on the Tain bombing range.  I particularly remember the tragic crash of XH477.

Just back from the Veterans Weekend at RAF Shawbury.

Unfortunately, the Vulcan couldn't make it as the cloudbase over the Mendips was 900ft, the Army Air Corps historic flight scrubbed on Friday due to the weather forecast.  The BBMF Dakota cancelled this afternoon due to crosswinds - but the "man of the match" award goes to the Royal Navy Historic Flight Swordfish pilot who flew his open-cockpit aircraft all the way from Yeovilton at 80 kts and flew an excellent display, before flying all the way back again!

Sir, I take my hat off to you!

Peter

The Vulcan is due to fly at the Lowestoft Air Show @ 1600hrs on 24th Jul and 1530 on 25th July. Wondered if anyone logged a code or callsign for it on previous flights please?

Thanks, Peter
