I presume he means that the box is not connected to the internet??  i.e. he is not sharing and is not connected to the network.

Apologies for the late reply, and for the confusion caused.

The Box is installed on an old netbook that I keep at Work; as my Office Window looks out onto LHR Arrivals and Departures, plus most overflights, its sole purpose is to alert me to what's around the local skies there. As I said, most would consider that a waste, but it suits my purpose fine.

I'm not very good with matters technical, so I guess what I 'should' have asked was if I'm OK to just plod along as I am ? - or will there come a time when I will have to upgrade ?

Apologies again and thanks for your support (and patience!)

Dave,

At this time its OK to plod along as you are but with the old version you wont be getting Navdata updates but as long as you are OK with it all well and good.

I would only worry about my neighbours sharing my internet connection if they did anything illegal with it (innocent poeple have been arrested when the drug dealer next door "borrowed" their wifi), or if they broke my download cap.

I don't see any possible downsides to sharing the data that my RadarBox receives, and I'm positively happy if other people find it useful.

So assuming your neighbours were law abiding citizens, you wouldn't mind paying for their internet connection?
It's an extreme example I know, but It's how I feel sharing my radarbox data.
Like I said, if we were to get something in return for sharing (like real-time network access), I'd have no problem with it but forcing users to share in order to continue getting the features that they originally bought the box for is taking the pee surely.

Just like I don't mind you using my logos and outlines, etc. If there's no downside, why not spread the happiness?

Rod, what have your logos and outlines got to do with this?
You do that off your own back but know one has to use them.

Alan, I'm only really interested in what I can see with my box but would happily share with joe public if I could also get some network access in return.
