Hello, I'm new to the forum. I'm a pilot/aircraft owner but a novice at web-based aircraft tracking.
If you will forgive the intrusion, I found this thread via a Google search for N181CS (an ArkEx Dehavilland
Twin Otter). My interest in tracking this particular aircraft is personal in nature... My Fiance's son is
currently flying that Twin Otter home to the USA from North Africa. He calls / Skypes us when he can, but
we'd like to be able to track his progress home (currently from Wick, Scotland, to the Faroe Islands,
Iceland, Greenland, Northern Canadian territories and finally down into the USA). I've tried using various
global flight tracking web sites (this one, planefinder.net &
www.flightradar24.com) but I've only been
able to find/track N181CS a couple of times with
www.flightradar24.com while the aircraft was in the UK.
Is there a FAQ that describes what types of aircraft can be tracked and where (globally)? I suspect that
particular Twin Otter probably has an old Mode C transponder and/or doesn't have any ADS-B equipment
onboard. Thanks for any help (my apologies if this post doesn't belong here).
