some good news, the bug that I and some others experienced e.g. Radarbox s/w would crash when executing other commands in Windows 7 seems to have gone for me.  With the previous version I could crash Radarbox s/w by starting Photoshop elements, changing the default printer or changing the default home page in IE to name a few.   just tried all three and 5.0.0047 carried on running.

This was with just upgrading the original s/w. not a new install.

:-)

I have a little query. It's not the end of the world, just a little annoying! Now I am using version 5.0 etc, when I go into reporter and select todays entries, every day all registrations have the asterix as if they are new additions even though I see the same aircraft day after day? A little bug? Didn't do this with 4.03.
regards clive.

Clive, this is already logged as a bug and is already being worked on for the next beta.

has anything changed with the data coming out of port 30003?

I use JSTARS to alert on mil traffic only and have noticed with this beta that between 10 and 20 % are not being picked up by JSTARS.  JSTARS had no such problem with 4.03.  Just gone back to 4.03 to confirm my findings.   The data in the respective db's are identical in NAVDATA and JSTARS as I create the JSTARS db from the navdata updates.

just as an update to my port 30003 data issue.

Having now run version 4.03 for past 24 hrs all data is correctly received in JSTARS.  So it seems that the data output thru this port is different.  Is this by design or is there a bug here?

Thanks

Graham

Graham, I'm not aware of any changes, and the beta testing I did using port 30003 into Planeplotter worked perfectly.  Do you have "Filter garbled Flight IDs & Squawks" ticked in Preferences?

I'll grab a sample of 30003 output and see if anything looks odd.  Do you know what message types JSTARS uses?

hi  I'm told by Rob at JSTARS it uses "SBS-1 protocol to detect all traffic received"

can ask further if required

not at RDB pc to check on the garbled filter setting.  will check later

The intention with the proposed changes is that photos will be displayed according the following rules:
1. If PTTN has a value in it, use that thumbnail file name.  Ditto for PTTN2.
2. Otherwise, use the old style file name - eg, for G-EZYA, file names G-EZYA.jpg & G-EZYA,2.jpg
3. Otherwise, NO PHOTO.  However, if displaying in MyLog screen, search photo folder for any photo file with a name that starts with the aircraft registration.

We're trying to cover all eventualities here, with users having saved their own photos over the years, and some aircraft sharing the same registration, etc................

Any final feedback on this?  These changes have been tested in private beta, and look okay, but I want to check if this will satisfy users with saved photos, etc.

Graham, if you know what you're doing, you could use Telnet to connect to LocalHost port 30003, and record.

Tarbat,

The 'search' actions for photos looks good to me. As you say, every eventuality is being covered.
