New AirNav RadarBox 5.00 Beta Software Released and Avaiable for Download

We are happy to announce the release of the brand new "AirNav RadarBox 5.00 Beta" software.

It's a new version of our Windows software with all reported bugs corrected and with some new features. It has been on test for a few weeks and it is now time to release it, still in Beta mode, to our forum.

Our development team and our team of beta testers will be present on this thread.
At this point we are looking for more problems to be reported and corrected. This version intends to be mainly a correction of all reported problems and once released in non-beta mode we will start working on important new features.

A couple of new features to be aware of:

1. Preferences - Radarbox - Callsign and Squawk Validation - Tick the box to filter out garbled FlightIDs and Squawks, at the expense of requiring 2 consecutive identical messages for FlightIDs and Squawks.

2. Database Explorer has a new Database Updates tab.

Will the upgrade403to50044.exe work to upgrade from 3.13?
As far as I remember, the difference between 3.13 and 4.03 was the 3D feature.

Sorry, not tested upgrade from 3.13, as I didn't have a 3.13 install to test from.

I dont see any reason why it should not, the only difference is 3D.  If you dont subsscribe to 3D you will get 2D only.

The upgrade will look for your ANRB.exe.  If you have installed to a different path than that detailed by the installer you will require to direct it to the exe.

I did the upgrade with 403 updater and ANRB complained about anrb.dat not found.
Installed 403 on another machine, copied the anrb.dat from it and now the 500beta works.

Liviu, good to know there's a way to upgrade from 3.13.  But note the warnings, this is NOT an official upgrade route, has not been tested, and may give problems if you try to use 3D.

Note that if someone takes this path to upgrade from 313 and then decides to subscribe for the 3D, 500 will not work because there will be missing the GE_Models and GE_Layers folders and maybe some other files.

I must admit, I'm baffled as to why those not sharing flight data or subscribe to the network, not receiving updates from the server,can be classed as a "feature" of the release?
Your definition of "feature" needs looking at closely.

Just an observation - now that the Navdata database in encrypted, the NavData Editing Tool is now unusable, which is a shame.

Tried to launch 3D with old GE plugin. Result: Plugin crashed. While (re-)installing newest version: ANRB disappeared from tasklist. Maybe crashed maybe shuted down without notification. As far as I noticed no damages to the database files have occurde. so far so good.

I have two boxes, one with active network subscription and one without. Both are alway on with sharing "ON". Does this mean, that only the box with active Network subscription gets updates or is it sufficient if only one have an active subscription. One of the boxes is running -with some short outtages- 24/7 since 1st of December 2009 -this are about 34000h of shared data. But if I have to pay for two network subscriptions to get updates for both boxes I've to say googbye...

Just had a problem/almost crash with new version. If you want I can send you the "crash report" as text file.

Finally... Many thanks for finally launching the new long awaited version of RB software.
