Andrew/Alan

I believe 60087C is a spurious code picked up at distance as I also had IL76 4K-AZ100 on at the same time. Diddy boy is having same issue locally and we cannot understand why this has not happened in previous years in the sandpit but is happening now. I even picked up ground signals at height which has never happened to me before.

Hi Niklas,

CRJ c/n 7440 is ex N408CA which has been at Arlanda since mid May I believe.

Alan

Thanks, N408CA was my guess, but couldn't confirm it. :-)

It arrived at ARN May 2nd.

Hi X

I cant find anything for AE29C9.  Looking back I see you had it previously with UAV as flight ID.

I have had to reload my computer from scratch after a hard drive problem so cannot see if I have seen things before, it did sound familiar but without looking through 1250 daily reports I cannot pinpoint these repeats....plus the spurious codes I am currently getting is making life difficult! Diddyboy is having same issue and we just cannot work out why.....and his box is in his air conditioned room, plus humidity would have caused this problem in previous years.....could some new equipment obtained by locals or our noisy neighbours be causing signal interference?

The ground siganls at heights is not unusual as these can give read outs of over 60,000 ft so as not to be confused by actual aircraft.

Also noted on the mode-s forum the following given as ground signals by an SBS user and a query raised to find if this was the case so not only RB user picking them up.

Alan

I pick up ground signals when at the airport, but never previously from my home which is a distance away and no direct line of sight with anything on the ground. I only pick up around 1000ft and above, and I am aware 896EXX are ground and should not be picked up where I am. I am also aware that ground signals go to 60,000 but are pinged from the airport, therefore something else must be causing these spurious c/s, hex/ reg mix ups as it has not happened in the previous six years. I am getting 3400 in my daily log way above the 2000-2200 average I got pre May and it is mainly 896XXX aircraft that are effected. The radar screen is not affected just the drop down log as is the case with Diddyboy. If a globe precedes the a/c it is real but my log and reporter can show three aircraft at same height same c/s and different hex and reg/ Very strange!!

Maybe somebody is on to us! Ha ha

X

PS also believe that all ground equipment must now ping which was not the case previously out here

I can only think someone has new equipment and as stated earlier they are being picked up by other box types as well so is isnt just RB being affected.

Better keep your head down!!

I take it you are not having the same problems when you have your box away on your travels

Going to IST Wednesday then Honkers for a week so will be out of sight for a bit!

Did not have the issue in UK. Turkey or HKG which is why I thought it was extreme heat and humidity but many aircraft are close by and therefore this cannot be the issue. Will let you know when in HKG

Current LX-TQJ can be found here: http://www.dac.public.lu/documentation/aeronef/extrait_registre.pdf

4B189D HB-JIJ populated as "WFU Stored (ex SkyWork Airlines)" but it's still active with SkyWork Airlines.
