Airnav RB in Singapore
« on: June 16, 2013, 03:35:02 PM »
Hi all, I know this subject ha been discussed before, but can anyone tell me the latest in regards to using RadarBox in Singapore? Are there still problems receiving signals in the area between LAT 2N and 2S?
I am planning a trip there in September and I am hoping to use my RB there

Many thanks in advance

Dave

As far as I am aware there should be no problem with you using RB for Myflights, I believe the problem is on the network but I stand to be corrected.

As I understand it the aircraft will appear on your myflights list, but even the ADS-B aircraft will not plot on the map.

I believe that you need at least RB SW v4.04 which correct the black hold bug.   However, it hasn't been officially released.  You may try to request from support.

Just a thought pal, whereabouts are you planning on using your box when in country?

Things might have changed over there, but if you're planning on using it at the airport, it might be worth checking how "friendly" the authorities are before doing so!
There's a military base almost adjacent to the main airport, and discretion may be the order of the day if you plan to make it obvious in public places. I was "passing" through here several years ago, and felt uncomfortable spotting there.........

I'm sure there will be someone on this forum who will have better experience of this?

I sent an email to Airnav support re the Singapore bug issue and received the usual auto response... since then, nothing. If there is a bug fix out there could someone please let me know where it is, or has it got lost around the equator?

Note to Airnav support, if you send a message saying the issue is being looked into, please respond to the support request by doing something more than just auto replying.

Many thanks, maybe someone will see this and respond.

There is no bug fix for this at this time it will be contained within 4.04 which is not available yet officially or unofficially.

A fix was given to a former user in Singapore to trial as part of the 4.04 package and as far as  I am aware it was succesful as returns were seen from there.

The 4.04 was part of a beta test so not a technical bug fix given out to customers as such.

Apologies for the lack of response as the email was passed on as we cannot give out the 4.04 from support. Hopefully we will have a version soon to release.

Regarding spotting in Singapore  I have spent a good part of the day a couple of times photographing from the viewing terrace and no problems experiences.  I didnt use my Radarbox though I had it with me.

I used my box in Singapore and had no issues except for Tiger Airways double pinging two reg's at one time, but this may have been an issue caused by the leaded glass used in my hotel.

Hi,

Just wondering about the lack of returns from Singapore. Does anyone know if this is a legal issue in regards to using RBox there or other issues as stated here on this thread previously.
Seems a shame we can't see what's going on there.

No returns from Singapore only because no one is on the network from there
