British Airways today announced that it expects to take delivery of its first two Boeing 787-8s on June 26th and 27th and its first A380 on July 4th. Training for both types will take place at Manston. Some additional info to include the A380

The final countdown starts today as we confirm delivery dates for our first two 787s on June 26 and 27, and our first A380 a week later on July 4.  Our hard work will culminate in a double celebration when we take delivery of our first 787 at an official ceremony at the Boeing Delivery Centre in Seattle. The aircraft, captained by Jerry Palmer, Chris Holden and senior first officer Mitch Preston will then arrive at Heathrow on the morning of June 26.

A week later, we will take the keys to our first super-sized jumbo at a formal hand-over ceremony in Toulouse, the home of the Airbus.  Captain James Basnett will then take over the controls and bring it back to London where it will touch down and be welcomed by 380 BA colleagues, some VIP customers and the media. The aircraft will then pull up alongside the787 as the airline officially welcomes both new additions to the fleet. The whole event will be broadcast live for colleagues to watch.

Following their arrival, both aircraft will be used for training before they go into service. This will include pilot and cabin crew training at Manston Airport in Kent, customer service trials atvHeathrow and a period of short-haul flying - Stockholm for the 787 and Frankfurt for the A380.

Flights within the UK will also take place during this period and further details will be announced nearer the time.

Jerry Palmer used to be an instructor at Headcorn, then flew with BCAL before BA. He taught me to fly DR400 G-TUKE whilst based there. Really pleased for him as he is a great aviation guy.

BA A380 G-XLEA is enroute to Heathrow.  Callsign BAW380, passing to the right of Nantes going North.

I don't think the spotting gods want me to see G-XLEA.  When in Toulouse last December XLEB and XLEC were in the assembly hall being put together.  G-XLEA was over in Hamburg.  Today rather that a standard Ockham arrival the aircraft turn right over the south coast proceeded to Seaford then up over LGW to Biggin.  Thereby avoiding my sighting of it!!

Suppose I could jump in the car upto LHR to see it but I'm sure if I did it would be put away into a hangar.

I drove past Heathrow at around midday, and BA A380 was parked near the old BMI hanger.  The BA 787 G-**JB was parked near it.

The other 787 G-**JA was parked outside the hanger located and visible from Envoy Ave

Has anybody seen the new BA A380 or 787s flying? I've not seen them on the network since the days they arrived.
