Thanks for the info, John. 

I replaced my antenna in Mid April as the cable came away from the antenna base but given that I have had it for 4 years and its been all over the world in that time I wasnt really bothered about it.  I will look to repair it when I get back home and keep it for a spare.  That is if I can figure out how to get the base off!

Try BF & I, then a big hammer and to finish a roll of gaffer tape. Worked for the RAF!

Correct Dave, always keep a hammer handy, if in doubt hit it a clout!

I have had the range drop dramatically over the last few days. I've checked the aerial connections and seem secure, tried another antenna and no improvement. Enclosed a pre and post polar diagram.
Looks like the dreaded filter problem has struck again.
Mine is an early "pre-modded" one, so don't know whether it qualifies for the upgrade.
