Perfect, Roadrunner, just what I've been waiting for.

So as far as you're concerned RB and SBS-1 are equal in sensitivity?

I am not saying that at present as I believe that SBS1 has a slight edge over the RB. However, there may be upgrades that improve this.

As an SBS and RB user, it was interesting to read Mikes comparison. Where he totally lost me was bnc and sma converters. Are these the 2 aerial fixings ? Would it be possible to have 1 external or loft aerial and then split the feed to goto an sbs and radarbox at the same time ??
I agree that they give similar output but have noted in an earlier post that Airnav needs to fine tune radarbox , which will come in time, to get the same level of ease of use and performance as sbs.
The sooner those ?? are removed from the "write new aircraft to database" feature in the to do list the better !!

When I referred to BNC to SMA connector I was referring to the aerial connection.

SBS1 uses BNC RadarBox SMA. If you us the connector various aerials are immediately available to you. However, I do not know what the signal loss is.

I'm running both an RB and an SBS-1 in parallel and in my case the SBS-1 is rather more sensitive. In some cases where the SBS-1 is showing aircraft with position data, the RB is showing "Flight does not have position information". A bit disappointing in that respect...

At the time I'm writing this email there are 30 connected users from UK, Germany, Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Brazil, Spain. The product has just been released and we are receiving many orders daily. Expect this to grow to almost a pan european coverage in a few months.

Interesting this topic is again active. After 1 year we now have an average of 150 units connected and more than 2000 users. :-)

That's only 7.5% of owners sharing data.  Is the 150 units the number of those connected at any moment in time?  So that in fact over the course of a month basically everybody is connecting to the Network at some point?  Or is it that only 150 are regularly connected?

We have stats which show that while there is about 60 units which we can describe as on all the time the others are vary a lot. We can easily view the unique units connected per day is 250-300 per day. Thats almost a 1/3 of the boxes sold.

It would be interesting to know why 2/3 aren't connected.  The hardware isn't cheap, so you don't take up this hobby only to get bored of it after a few weeks.  It can't be because the hardware/firmware/software is so unreliable that it's a chore to use, because it's not.  It also can't be support issues, as this Forum is by far the best I've ever encountered regarding any product.

Bethsalem,

Sorry you may have misunderstood my post. That was on average per day 1/3 of the current RadarBox connect up which is a large amount. To those actually connecting and activating there free years network its nearly 95%+.

To those who don't connect they use the device on mobile vehicles or trips and such.
