The number of users should just have gone up with the first deliveries over this weekend and into early next week. Perhaps we should have a way of giving our locations to the comunity, if we are happy to do so.

You could do something like the map of SBS-1 users - see http://sbs.jetvision.de/

Hi Guys,

Yes we have the details our self but we don't want to release them (locations) as that would be against the privacy of our customers. So yes will produce something like the google map for a temp solution just to give you guys an idea.

Hope that helps.

What sort of details do you want? on a Google map?

- Forum ID or Station ID (This is up to the user)
- Position (not extremely accurate for privacy)
- Comments
- Whether they are using external anetnna or one supplied?

Anything else or is that enough?

Support,

I think that's interesting to show the cities that are connected on network.

Thx,

As the first user in Ireland, I agree that a location/mapped referecne would be an excellent idea.

it would be wonderful, as i am not sure if i am the only one 15 miles from heathrow or if there are others, i would love to know, just a dot to show base locations would be great.

As a side point, i spent this weekend fitting a 6 foot arial in my loft along with one for my scanner. i THINK i am getting better coverage now although the arial supplied was perfect anyway to be honest as long as you can get it as high as possible.

I only wish i could sit at the airport now with my laptop and scanner to see it all happen real and on radar, but with no wi fi, this is impossible, but one day who knows!

Hi there

You don't need wifi to see stuff if you are sitting at the airport. You will see enough just from local traffic, with the network switched off. I intend using my RB mobile more frequently than home based. Have a look from home without network switched on to see what I mean.

so when i disconnect from network and see 67 flights at heathow...there the ones i am picking up right?

This just gets better!!!

is it possible to buy a second arial, as my one is now set up in the loft, so another one to buy would be great now i know i can take it out and about on my laptop!

many thanks

Thats correct sleepylondon, We have another customer in London and he gets a similar amount of coverage.

Looking at your home position you might be able to receive ground contacts are Heathrow with a external antenna.

I will pass on your request to have the antennas sold separately as well.

I have both SBS1 and RB. As a test when I first got RB I used a BNC to SMA converter on the end of the cable to my loft aerial (BS1100 replacement) and got all the aircraft I would have seen on the SBS1 on the RB. I also tried using the original SBS1 aerial on it, and the RB one on that and stood both aerials on my windowsill. They both picked up exactly the same aircraft going into Luton with all details the same (Heading, Altitude, Flight No, hex registration etc). I have also used the original SBS1 aerial with the BNC to SMA converter and it worked as well.

What I am saying in a round about way is that any aerial for the 1090 frequency should work with the RB, and having to use the converter does not appear tio have reduced its effectiveness.
