Adding a second antenna to your radarbox?
« on: February 11, 2013, 12:10:58 AM »
Has anyone ever tried this?  Is there any benefit at all to doing it?  A simple SMA Male T-splitter connector to the radar box with multiple antenna's?

Just a thought.  Not sure if it would have any beneficial effect...

Hi Jason, yes, tried it once and it definitely didn't improve reception.   If you've got a blind spot and had a second antenna in a position to cover the blind spot with a splitter, I think it probably work, but I believe, both antennas would need to be identical, with identical leads and lengths to keep them in perfect balance - the two I tried with very definiely weren't and I think that is why it worsened reception.   A good signal combiner would probably sort the balance out, which is what I cocked up!  It definitely works with V/UHF radio reception.  With microwaves which 1090 is who knows - try it and let us know!
