Here we go again - Drivers and Windows 8
« on: January 10, 2013, 03:39:34 PM »
I have been happily running ANRB for over a year on an Acer Aspire laptop with Windows 7 as the o/s.
I recently upgraded to Windows 8 (a Christmas present!).
It wiped all programs on my laptop and insisted on installing a 64 bit o/s. So I downloaded the software from the AirNav Systems website, and the latest driver. Software ran OK. Opened Device Manager and clicked on 'update driver.' It didn't want to know! Said it could find the driver but an error occurred when trying to install it! Repeated process - same result, Needless to say when the program is run the screen shows that the hardware is not connected (the red square).
Folks, am I doing something wrong or do I need a NEW driver to use ANRB with Windows 8?
Chapter and verse please.
PS: I have also sent this prob to support.
Thanks.

The none 64bit drivers should work fine on Windows 8. However Windows 8 64bit are a bit fussy and we will look into the getting them resigned for Windows 8.

In the meanwhile users have managed to get it to work using the below tips:

1.From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
2.Click ‘Change PC Settings’.
3.Click ‘General’.
4.Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
5.Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
6.Click ‘Advanced Options’
7.Click ‘Startup Settings’
8.Click Restart.
9.When Win8 restarts type the number next to "Disable driver signature enforcement"

I did exactly as suggested. It made NO difference. My ANRB is still not working!

Any more ideas or solutions please?

You will need to make sure you repoint to the correct drivers and it should let it install now.

Made as AirNav said and no problems with the installation. Now the only thing is that ANRB is not using my database.
I've a Navdata with 89000 aircraft on the folder and it is only showing 80300...

Manuel,

I presume you must have a very old d/b with only 89,000 aircraft.

I would presume you have more than one instance of RB on your computer and it is using the wrong one.  Use windows search to look for all instances of NavData.db3 file and move it to the correct location
