Watson Radar Extender
« on: August 18, 2011, 09:49:56 PM »
Hi guys,

At last I've had an external antenna fitted to the house and what a difference a 'day off work makes' :)

Been waiting some time for this as I've been using an old VHF twig on the roof which was okay but this is totally a different ball game.

Take a look at my screen shot, it's only been building since around 3pm but already I'm picking up well over 200 miles and have been hitting high numbers of received a/c.
Todays log is around the 1400 mark and that is only covering a part of the day - some 8 to 9 hours.

Let me know what you think of the coverage so far as I'd be interested to know your thoughts.

Thanks guys, cheers Dave.

PS Have managed the upload this morning and the polar is still building - fantastic !!

Well done, Dave!

A proper aerial is definitely a big improvement on wire coathangers or VHF twigs ;-)

Looking forward to uploading your polar - good luck with that!

Using the Canon 10x30 IS Binoculars with Image Stabilisation, Brilliant job on a clear day.

It's a fab aeriel eyeinthesky, and I was so chuffed when I found it reaching out to Ireland and well into France too.

Todays my log stands at 1681 and is still climbing. I've only got the aeriel up, no pre-amp and it's the best it's ever been. Saturday should be busier too.

All the best mate,

Cheers dave.
Best regards Dave.

Hi Rod,

Well, as you quite rightly say "A proper aerial is definitely a big improvement on wire coathangers or VHF twigs ;-)"

And here's the view so far to confirm :) Todays log stands at 1783 and is still climbing.

By the way thank you for the work you do with regard to the sillouettes, logos and outlines - they certainly enhance this fine programme and it's rather a treat to pick up airlines I've never even heard of and I work in Aviation :)

It's the best hobby I've ever had the pleasure to follow.

Cheers Dave.
