Hi!

Yahoo has implemented some new feature to block "spammers" to the Yahoo Groups and this has led to a
problem for me so that I can no longer send my reports to the Mode-S group from the reporter.

I'm using a g-mail address and now I'm only receiving a "Unable to deliver your message" every time,
sending it directly from g-mail works without problems but from the reporter it doesn't work.

Is there anything that can be done? Or do I have to manually post my reports in the future?

We are starting to investigate why this might be happening. All these reports are sent as an http request to our airnavsystems.com and then the email message is sent from that server. We believe yahoo takes this as spam and blocks the messages. Does anyone of you have direct contact with the memberlist administrators so they could allow emails from a specific address into the list?

AirNav Development,

I haven't got any contact with the memberlist administrators, but it's only to join the group with your yahoo-account (where you can set multiple e-mail addresses).

Here is the header from the message sent to the group (taken from the sent map of my g-mail account):

I think the problem is in the "Authentication-Results" section, which is created by Google's mail-server.

HI

One of the list oweners put out a message from yahoo which said:-

"However, a side effect of these changes is that some legitimate messages
could be blocked, particularly if a user is posting via an "external
email client" that does not have its SMTP configuration set to correctly
identify the source of the message.

You will know if your messages are being affected by this problem if you
receive a bounce message letting you know that your email has been
rejected for "policy reasons" or "community guidelines violations".

You can learn more about this issue, and how to correctly configure your
SMTP settings, here:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/members/troubleshooting/ygcuflow-35.html

Meanwhile, our apologies for any inconvenience this change has caused.
But the good news is that the fix has enabled us to block tens of
millions of messages from spammers that otherwise may have successfully
posted to groups."

I have read the link but have not found anything that could correct my error

I too suffered from this change that stoppped my report posting.  I susbsequently found that the email address in File Preferences Home Radarbox Data has to be set to the same email address that you use for the Yahoo groups.  I'm now post reports onto the OTT Southeast and Smode groups on Yahoo again.

This is what's commonly known as "spoofing" -- you're "not gmail" and so you "shouldn't" be sending email claiming to be "from" a gmail user.  I don't see a way around this other than changing your code to work differently, like sending directly to an SMTP server configured by the user (optionally using User Authentication if required).

Hi Graham

I have checked that my e-mail address in the Radarbox data is the same as the address for submission to the yahoo group and it is so it is not that. This situation only started happening a week or so ago - prior to that I had no issues.
