Messages per second
« on: March 21, 2008, 10:02:57 PM »
Hi folk

I'm a newbie of ten days, and so far I'm very impressed - hardware, software, support, forum etc, and I think I've got the basics sorted out. There's just one bit that I can't find an answer for anywhere:

Beside the Msgs/Sec indicator at the bottom, there's a rapidly-changing number in brackets.

Please, somebody - tell me what it means!

Thanks

Rod

These are the amount of ADS-B and Mode-S Messages being received (data packets sent from the aircraft)

The bracket numbers are the messages which have been compressed.

e.g You might have the aircraft G-BAWL sending data packets in that second:

1.) Flight Number
2.) Altitude
3.) Position
4.) Squawk

Instead of listening to them all, it creates one message which is compressed with the all the above data for RadarBox to interpret. Hence the bracket numbers are always much less than the one on the left of it.
