128k aircraft records is a mammoth effort chaps!!

Can't believe how far this has come on in the time since the team was created.

It seems the "idea" is to release a new file on what appears to be a monthly basis?? Seems a good way forward to me.

Hopefully you guys will get some well deserved support once that other software is released?

Well done chaps!

Regards

Rich

As a matter of interest, do you updaters get any benefit at all from AirNav, such as free real-time network or similar.   If not, may I suggest AN consider putting this into place.

But, in any case many thanks for all your efforts, we users appreciate it, but rarely say so!

Good thinking CCJ. They certainly deserve more than a pat on the back.

Well, if we stop to think about it they're saving AN a huge amount of money and resources, and adding a lot of value to AN's product, for which they should receive some benefit, possibly proportional to the amount of work and effort put in................................How's about it AN?

All

100% agree with last posts, great work has been done and huge improvement on Airnav db supplied on CD.
Question is are they still shipping with old disc with 80,000 a/c, lot of mistakes and with huge blanks....it was so out of date!

Hi Guys.

just checked my db and it only shows 118202 acft. Hv tried updating as per instructions abv and still get the same number. Do I remove previous updates before downloading the new one?

I'd also like to add my thanks  to Alan and the team for the work they are doing.
There were over 2100 new aircraft added in the 34 days between the last two .db3 updates, - over 60 a day!
A remarkable achievement.

Alan, just as a matter of interest, how many hours per day/week do you personally spend on this task?

I spend what time I can or what the wife will allow, I think she is just glad of the peace and quiet!!! I am lucky in that I am retired and doing this fills a large hole in my life now that I am not working and with the Scottish weather, what else is there to do!!

We as a team are grateful of the assistance given by you the forum members for sending us your unknowns and alerting us to our mistakes, its a team effort.  Its a bit like painting the Forth Road Bridge in that you put an aircraft in the d/b and next thing it is sold and changed ID completely, never ending.  Its not just new aircraft its all the everday changes which come about from aircraft being sold on or going on lease.

There must be a lot more unknowns noted out there and the more that are forwarded to us the better it will be for us all.  Dont put up with blank space, let us know of them and if possible we will fill in the blanks.  There are around 10-15 or so usual contrubutors to the update thread and I personnaly thank them for taking the time to post.  Think of how we could get on if the other users contributed the unique unknowns from their area, so come on dont be shy post away.

Adding to that, the updates thread is not only for additions.  If you know of any aircraft, especially General Aviation, that are in the DB that are laid up engineless or have been sold, let us know.  In this way we can keep the information fresh.
