Wimo power supply
« on: October 03, 2011, 10:26:52 PM »
Hi, I have little doubt about the kind of adapter I need for WIMO Kit, they sent me a 12V / 200mA and I bought one of 12v/1.25A, Can you help me and inform me which is the most appropriate. Since in the website of Wimo say they need a 12V/1A power. thank you very much

Depends on the preamp you are using. From my own experience with the wimo preamp I would like to say that you should use the 1,25A power supply. Because the 200mA Type may get a little hot.

Hi Drazick, I agree with Ingo, you need a heavier supply than 200mA, 1,000mA upwards shopuld be fine.   With a 200mA supply, it'll not only run a lot hotter (possibly even a fire risk if in unmonitored area such as a loft or roof space, but probably won't be able to power pre-amp optimally, and may not last very long before it cooks.

Hello, thank you very much for your help, I do not understand why Wimo sent this power supply of 200mA, if the product is in danger. I will use the source of 1.25A.
 Thanks again
