We would recommend updating. To gain benefit of all the aircraft that we have added (currently 126,000). We trawl many, many sites for new information including:
the Mode S group,
Puget Sound Boeing blog,
Skyliners,
Aiways North American Fleet Updates,
OTTSpotters
and the Houser747 World Registers updates
to name just a few of the many regular places we visit for info.
For regions were the national authorities do not publish national registers on the internet like the UAE and Germany we are very grateful to Ingo, X and others who share their personal observations with us via the data updater thread.
We also get a feed of all hexes recieved on sharing radarboxes for further investigation. Unfortunately this also currently includes all the spurious corrupted codes caused by the decoding errors inherent with the radarbox.
Airnav have also made some changes to the airport table, for example Newquay Cornwall, Doncaster Sheffield and some additions to Chinese and Japanese destinations. We have no control on the routes, which is purely with Airnav, the number of routes in the tables has been pared right back by Airnav, in order that the software then looks back to the servers for new routes info.
