ShipTrax software beta testers needed
« on: May 13, 2011, 06:15:32 AM »
We are getting really close to the release of the ShipTrax system.

Beta testing has started a long time ago and the software development is almost finished: at this stage we are looking for beta testers with:
- Experience with AirNav RadarBox;
- Experience with ship tarcking systems (ShipPlotter);

We will then select some new beta testers to further test ShipTrax.
Tks.

I've been on your list since the beginning (3 years ago) but never heard anymore. I have been ShipPlotting for several years, I am situated 12 miles away from the large container port of Harwich / Felixstowe, so have plenty of traffic. I can normally see around 25 - 30 miles out to sea, which added to my 12 miles inland is pretty good. I also have the port of Ipswich 2 miles away which has smaller commercial traffic and a few leisure boats fitted with AIS. Under VHF lift conditions last week I was seeing ranges of 120 miles. I am a licenced RA and also hold a VHF Marine licence. I have experience of the ANRB from the time it was launched.
I'm sure that I can add something helpful to the project for the benefit of the end user.

Hi. I registered interest maybe a couple of years back to become a beta tester. I live near the busiest stretch of water in the world, Dover Strait. I have been using Radarbox for many years and have experience in tracking ships as my full time job! I tracked ships using AIS whilst airborne in an observation aircraft.

If you need any more testers then I've got a Comar AIS-2-USB running.
It would need to interface with SiiTech's AIS Server Lite, as I use that for uploading to others like MarineTraffic & Ships AIS.
I do need a new antenna though as my range has dropped to about 20 miles, from 60+ a few months ago. But I hope to have that done this week, if the weather allows.
