Report generation
« on: May 27, 2011, 03:44:54 PM »
I manually generate a report daily to two addresses. Over the past few months, approximately once every ten days or so, it fails to send, Reason given is Message failed, check background software (anti-virus/firewall), etc.

I keep trying to re-transmit that days report several times, always with the same response, while on all other days it has gone smoothly at first attempt. So I am suspect of the anti-virus suggestion. Could there sometimes be a buried "bad character" that upsets the Reporter?

The same happens to me on occasions and I find that when it occurs if I send the same report the  next day it goes to the recipient ok for some reason

Well it never seems to work for me - I try several times with 5 min intervals, nothing. Try next morning again several attempts and I give up. And the problem is you cant go back more than yesterday; if it does not go the next day, that days report is lost.

...That's why I think there is the urgent need for a "automatically generate and save to file" function in addition to the existing mailing option!
