Weak Network Covergae East of Heathrow
« on: March 07, 2011, 03:18:46 PM »
Been waiting for a friend to take of today. As we have easterly winds the planes are taking of into the East from Heathrow. I have noticed that for planes taking off the network coverage is far better on flightradar24 than it is on Airnav.
Surely there are people in West London that are feeding back into Airnav?

The network is showing flights fine from that position.

The reason why your probally seeing little is because you may be picking Mode-S signals from your position which means its not showing you network details as your box is picking up some signal from them (but no positions yet)

Hi Airnav
From the network logs what FL did you see BAW81 today around 15:10 UK time (09:10ET). I noticed it on Flightradar at around 3000ft. Did not see on the Airnav network until 20000ft approcahing the South coast of the UK

Cheers

Do you have the aircraft reg rather than flight id?

Aircraft are showing up fine on the network around that area at the moment, we can see them both from our location near heathrow and on the network.

Weird
Just checked and flights now taking off from Heathrow heading the same way as BAW81 are now being seen around 4500ft. I also checked the live radar screenshot from the Airnav page and its matches. Can only think a user has switched on in West London which has boosted coverage. It definately was not this good earlier today.

We have a site to the south east of heathrow so it should return good coverage of heathrow 24/7
