You may not have the newest version.  The newest Navdata has over 101,000 aircraft.

Just a heads-up for the next version, but 42 aircraft in this new database still have invalid ICAO Type codes (field AT), and there are around 611 aircraft types without silhouettes available.

Cheers for the assistance Tarbat.  42 out of 100,000.  Thats a 0.004% error rate.  Considering it has been a manual task and given what we inherited when we updaters started, I think that is a pretty damn impressive effort and a tolerance level that many companies could only ever strive for.  If you are able to post the relevent 42 hexes on the database update request thread, we will have them sorted for you by the next release.  Obviously you would not be able to see the benefit of and any ICAO changes we make prior to a further release due to the corruptions of the longstanding bug.

We have continued our strong pressure on Airnav to start creating new silhouettes, flags, dat files etc.  They have a lot to look at in my opinion.  We have recieved no word from Airnav as to whether these currently feature in their plans for any of 'five exciting releases' we have been promised for this calendar year.

Unfortunately also in this new version I noticed  some mistakes regarding routs....some routs are missing or are wrong, and I noticed also a mistake regarding some silhouettes : for examp. AT72 appear with a silhouette of AT75...
But the big problem still that I have to  update manualy the routs , between updates :(
All the best !
Dana

Airnav will need to confirm to you details of how the routes table was updated/changed and what data sources are utilised, maybe flightstats??

With regards the AT75, ICAO changed over the ATR codes in November.  They are now as follows:

AT72
ATR 72-101
ATR 72-102
ATR 72-201
ATR 72-202

AT73
ATR 72-211
ATR 72-212

AT75
ATR 72-212A

AT76
ATR 72-600

As explained above Airnav currently have not produced a silhouette for these.  Others that you will see regularly on the network without silhouttes include B748, G250 and GLF6.

Totally agree.  It was not intended as a criticism, just something to work on for the next version.

Given time I'm sure one can get used to KJFK - EHAM being Jamaica to Haarlemmermeer, to mention but one.

Not sure I get the point, but this new database contains 27 routes between KJFK and EHAM, with airport names of John F. Kennedy International Airport and Amsterdam Schiphol.  Are you sure you're using the new database?

CKS203, CKS206, CKS9533, DAL80, DAL81, DAL8775, DAL8805, DAL8806, KLM641, KLM642, KLM643, KLM644, KLM646, KLM647, KLM648, SOO6170, SOO6171, SOO6173, TFL293, TFL295, TFL297, TFL517, TRA473, TRA8253, TRA833, UAE9914, UAE9936

Hi Tarbat - the point as you put it is that I'm not using the new database.

As I understand things by using new database I could correct my airports tables but my routes would be again over-ridden by Airnav routes. Judging by the comments on here and elswhere these, while apparently much better, may still leave something to be desired.

I was rather hoping that the corrective action for the Mk1 database would have been selective - ie I could have corrected only the Airports for example - but this has presumably been impossible to achieve - a point VonS was making.

After the first download, it took about a fortnight using FD to restore my routes so it's not an easy decision. We'll see but I'm open to any advice or recommendations.

Tarbat,

Many thanks for your assistance with the database.  While 0.004% is a very small percentage, we will try and ensure this figure is reduced even further.

Using your list I have corrected the defects shown except for the A330 aircraft.  As these are for test registrations, perhaps the generic A330 is best as we dont know which particular model will be using the hex but I will discuss with the other updaters.

Once again thank you for your assistance, it is appreciated

Alan

Ok - some help needed here!

I've done exactly what it says on the tin, and I can see the new navdata file sat in the data folder (19,910kb with todays date and time downloaded), but it's not pulling anything through in terms of info

When I go into database explorer, there's nothing there at all?No tables, nothing?

any ideas?

It should just update Janet.  Close down airnav, do the update and start up again and all should be well.

Tried four separate times now from scratch, and only downloading a file of 19.9Mb?????

Has anyone else tried to download the file from the link on page 1 of this thread in the last half hour or so??

Dev/Support - is the link still working ok?

Thanks

Rich

Rich,

What's the size of the file "ANRBDBUpdater20110222.exe" that you downloaded.
