Great News: ShipTrax hardware finally approved
« on: January 18, 2011, 01:57:04 AM »
We have great news for all the fans waiting for ShipTrax: today AirNav Systems and its beta testing team finally approved the ShipTrax AIS receiver with very good results on 1-on-1 tests against competitor products.

So at this stage we have given the green light for the factory to start mass production of ShipTrax units.

Unfortunately this is something that takes some time due to several parts being shipped from many companies all over the world: we expect the first units to reach the market by mid April 2011.

Again we hope you feel happy about this: the ship enthusiast community will finally have an outstanding product that will revolutionize the market just like RadarBox did.

Again thanks for all your support.

That's great news - at last!!

In my testing, the ShipTrax hardware performs very well, outperforming my Comar AIS-2-USB hardware on both range and number of ship contacts.  I've even picked up a couple of ships on the west coast of Scotland with it, nearly 50 miles away.

Is there any rough estimate about the price now that the units are in production?
Thanks

I find it interesting that so many people appear to be using Shiptrax daily according to the "Customer Quotes" box on the ShipTrax website. The fact that I spotted a person from my own county made me watch to see that the list updates every few minutes. I assume that all these guys are Beta Testers?

Just two weeks or so to go. I'll just go and pay my monies.

Hang on--there's no update on delivery date or price.

Ah well I'll diarise it for April 2012

Well, on 18th January it was "they will be ready in 3 months", so that makes 18th April 2011 to me.

OK although the email said

"we expect the first units to reach the market by mid April 2011".

ie Next week.

Surely the pricing info is available. Or are we now waiting for Kinetic to state their price first.

Whichever company's product you are interested in, I'm convinced that it will now be a "waiting game"! Whoever launches their product first will then be undercut by the other company so that they can claim that it is the best and cheapest! This standoff could go on for weeks untill one or other decides the time has come to try and claw back some of their initial investment.
