Air China
« on: January 09, 2011, 11:03:54 AM »
Hi guys,

Currently having a look around the network and I notice that there would appear to be an Air China B747 (registration B-2447) on the ground at Edinburgh. Anyone around in the old country that knows why ?

Hi Ian

With thanks to ScotAvNet this might help?

It looks as if the aircraft referred to below may be bringing in a Chinese
Government delegation at the start of a four-day visit to the UK. See link

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-12136722

The article refers to a state dinner in Edinburgh this evening, so it's
possible that the aircraft will stay overnight, but as usual don't blame me
if it's mince!

Thanks for that. For a moment I thought I was seeing things. No doubt all enthusiasts lucky enough to be in the area are now flocking to the airport.
Be nice to have a picture of this rarity at a Scottish airport downloaded by somebody!

The same aircraft was at Prestwick for the G8 summit.  Its a day where its a gamble which side of the country to go to as there are still two USAF F-16's in at Prestwick which diverted in yesterday. What to do!!

Alan,

Civil all the time for me. Anyway the F16's are probably hidden away some where. Head for Edinburgh.
