Wrong flags
« on: December 30, 2010, 10:16:14 AM »
Hi,
Happy New Year to all from a new member !!
Santa Claus has delivered an AirNav Pro to me and I'm since working on; I found that the Algerian flag is wrong ( it's the Angolan flag ) and living in Marseilles I want to know if it is possible to exchange it by myself or to wait an update from AirNav. Thanks for your answer.

Does this occur with every Algerian aircraft?.. Do you have the Algerian flag in the flags folder and if so what is the title of the flag?

Yes for all algerian flags and no algerian flag in the folder, it's the angolan flag in the folder ; the only algerian in the folder is the military cocard...

Not sure what comes on the standard install nowadays, but if you use the modified D008 and FLAGS folder you'll get the correct flag, according to http://www.flags.net/ALGE.htm

Jeff, I would start off by putting the Algerian flag in the Flags folder and see what happens.  If need be I will send you my D008 file.

The Algerian flag is in the folder but nothing happens; I think there is a link between the .bmp file and the grid on AirNav !!! By the way there is many helicopters upon my house near Marseilles Airport but noting on AirNav: something wrong ?

The helicopters may not be equipped with Mode S transponders.

The only ones that appear on the map will be equipped with Mode S ADS-B.  Other non ADS-B Mode S Transponder equipped aircraft will only appear in the aircraft list.

These Wiki pages may help
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aviation_transponder_interrogation_modes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_dependent_surveillance-broadcast

If any hex does not populate on your aircraft table.  Let us Database updaters know on the updating thread and we will try to find a tie-up.  One of our updaters lives in your area in Arles.

I think there is a link between the .bmp file and the grid on AirNav !!!

Unzip the attached file.  Put the d008.dat file in the DATA folder, and the FLAGS folder can replace your existing FLAGS folder.

TAKE BACKUPS FIRST.

Thank you, all. The DATA folder contains a D008 file but it's an Film video CD icon and not a .dat file; Is it the good one that I must replace ?
The backups is only for D008 or for the whole AirNav RadarBox 2009 folder ?

Switch off radarbox

Inside youe existing radarbox/dat folder you will find a flags folder and a D008.dat file.  Replace these with the ones Rarbat sent as his attachment.
Start up radarbox and all should be well.

One problem with being in Marseilles is that you will get new helicopters fresh out the factory and these will be showing hex codes tha no one has seen so it may take some work to associate these with the registration.
