Interesting Aircraft
« on: March 08, 2008, 08:26:33 AM »
Anybody picking up any interesting live tracks?  Here's one of mine for starters.

And another one:

A good day today

They just keep popping up!

Of course, no positions for these aircraft as they are not transmitting position information.

Still only getting 7 characters though - I did see 8 that one time when I posted the screenshot.  AirNav say it is down to 3rd party processing algorithms, but I'm not convinced, especially when it's live traffic.

Found it, see below, definitely 8 characters (including the space) - I'll annoy AB again to see if we can get it fixed :-)

Thanks for that.  I take a screenshot, crop it and then upload to Flickr http://www.flickr.com/

Then post the link in the message here like this but using [] and not () - () used so you can see the link instead of the picture.

Just picked up a Canadian Air Force plane for the first time so thought I'd post it. It also gives me chance to try out the flickr tip from Allocator:

The link you have put in is not correct

It should have a ".jpg" at the end at the least.

Hmm, that didn't work.

Don't forget that you need square brackets around your picture link.  You've put the link to the page rather than the picture.

The correct link is below the picture when you go to "All Sizes" - looks like this

I personally prefer to use www.imageshack.us as you can post thumbnails as well - eg

Or a full image:

Ok, I'll try again

Thanks for all the tips. I was watching the footy but to continue would be torture for me as a Teessider. So perhaps while I'm on a role

Right better knock it off now unless I see something really good.

Dave, do you think you could get the picture a bit bigger?  :-)

Well done!  In Flickr you can post a smaller picture, then post a link to the big picture like this.

My favourite interesting aircraft with callsign HELIMED2 is out saving lives again today:

I've had a close-up experience with this one - see http://tarbatness.blogspot.com/2007/07/scottish-air-ambulance.html

I used to go to Uni in Newcastle and lived near the RVI, I overlooked the common and quite regularly had Sea Kings etc landing about 50 yards from my window. Explains why I'm not a millionaire now I guess :)

Also one day was walking back and I saw a civil heli land with a large number of police cars around, I didnt think anything of it and continued walking down the path they then set off and had to drive onto the grass to get past and then I spotted Prince Charles and Princess Di in the back having a good laugh to themselves.

I wish I had that room again, aircraft spotting in the warm!

Allocator,

I liked your 4 pictures and I see you left the best aircraft to last :-) :-)
