I wish to find out what the differences are between the Radarbox and the SBS-1
I am currently in Email Conversation with Airnav regarding cost as this is a large outlay of Money i would like to get it right first time.

Will there be a free database update for Mode S codes/ aircraft tie ups, maps, flight numbers, routings etc etc or will it be a purchase of an all ready out of date database which you then have to update yourself, much like the ACARS databases which in the end I found very disappointing??

We hope to keep them updated. As you can imagine its a mammoth task and usually require users help to keep all of this together.

I would suggest you just go stright out and buy the RB. You won't regret it. I (along with many others on here) have been down the same route comparing the qualities of them both and finaly opted for the RB. What finaly convinced me was watching them both running side by side.

I personaly have no regrets apart from the  time wasted sifting through the forums when I could have been sat watching the RB

If you are good with computers, have money to spare and are happy to spend a long time setting up the SBS-1 BaseStation software, then you can recreate what you will see using the standard RadarBox setup.

Also, the SBS-1 does not share aircraft data like RadarBox does, so you will only see the aircraft you pick up with your antenna rather than seeing everybody's aircraft if you are using Radarbox.

So, it really depends what you want to do with your Mode S receiver.  Maybe if you tell us what you want to do, we can say which would be best.
